I find it very interesting that Jeff Long got another Power 5 job after y’all dumped him.

His discredits stem from his handling of our football program, operational and financial. He's an admirable AD for a blue blood basketball program in the Big 12.

Edit: I would assume I guess, but really for no reason. Long is kind of a potato.

He hired a better football coach to Kansas than Arky has.

And he will only hire a basketball coach if the NCAA makes him.

He absolutely did. Yet he refused to fire Bielema, so he was fired. Then an interim AD plays puppet for big money Texas.

Campbell is making 3.5 per, and signed a 6 year deal in 2017. Kind of doubt he goes anywhere for a couple years.

Just to name a few that would be instant upgrades. We need to jump on Bill Clark though before someone else does. He is about to be a hot name.

Matt Campbell would be a good hire for sure. Not sure he’d take the Arkansas job though if I’m being honest.

Is Arkansas going to pony up 5M+ per year while paying a large buyout to Morris and still paying Bert?

Campbell has a $7 million buyout at Iowa St too.

not paying Bert... he didn't seek full time employ as per his contract and a buyout was negotiated and ended the payments.

No way Campbell leaves Iowa State for Arkansas. My list was realistic people, if Yurachek pulled off hiring Campbell, he’d end up being the best AD Arkansas has ever had and we had Frank as our AD for like 30 years.

Sure in hindsight it was a bad move but Bert was following in Petrino’s foot steps. He had great success so what Bert was doing wasn’t so great at the time. Follow that up with a 4 win season and Arkansas thought they had seen enough and cut bait.

Of course knowing what they know now Arkansas would love those 8-5 seasons.

That motorcycle ride was the worst thing in Razorback history.

Yeah it’s less about they shouldn’t have fired him and more they didn’t appreciate what he did enough.

He was on an obvious downward path.

What others haven't brought up, but was pretty well known in Fayetteville, is that the pressure of the job had really started to get to Bert. When you add in the stress of being a first time father... well the guy started to hit the bottle pretty hard. Add to that his binge eating (seriously, the guy must have gained a hundred pounds on the job) and he was a physical wreck by the time JCP dropped the axe on him.

Bert was a decent, not great, Big 10 coach and if he had wound up somewhere in Big 10 country he'd have done fine. His primary coaching problem is that he was a Midwestern guy and all his contacts were Midwestern guys. That is fine and dandy if you wind up coaching at Ohio University but not so great in the SEC. Some can make the change from the Midwest to the South, but Bert never could and that sank any chance he had of building a successful program.
