Yeah.. the market is flooded every year and nobody is ever looking for tickets or scrambling to find any. I'm sure a team that is a lock to go with one game remaining wouldn't have fans who'd at the very least, reimburse a reservation, at the very least, for guaranteed tickets.
His point was, if your team loses a critical game which all but knocks them out (see the example) good luck being able to see the reservations.

I'm sure they would, but why would you want to sell your reservation once your team is a lock to go to the game?

And my point is that tickets sell for many times over face value. Someone would snatch up the opportunity to be guaranteed tickets, especially late in the season with their teams about to make the big game.

You're not understanding. If your team gets knocked out of the picture, you can sell your reservations to fans of teams that still are in the National Title hunt, up to a certain date. Whoever has a reservation, is guaranteed to get tickets. People will buy your reservation if you have to sell it for guaranteed tickets.
Your reservation ONLY applies IF your team makes the BCS NCG.

Again, from the website:
quote:
What happens if my team does NOT qualify to play in the 2012 Allstate BCS National Championship Game?
If your team does NOT qualify to play in the 2012 Allstate BCS National Championship Game, you will NOT be charged for, nor receive an associated face value ticket (or tickets).
Also:
quote:
Why are there two (2) charges to my account after purchasing a Team Ticket Reservation?
1. The first charge covers the cost of your Team Ticket Reservation (including related transaction fee) and will be charged on the date of purchase.
2. The second charge will ONLY occur if the team you purchased a Team Ticket Reservation for qualifies to play in the 2012 Allstate BCS National Championship Game. This second charge will be for the face value ticket price plus a $30 FedEx overnight shipping fee.. You will not incur this charge, if the team associated with your Team Ticket Reservation does NOT qualify to play in the Game.

Your chances to make the BCS Championship suddenly drop or imagine something comes up that prevents you from attending the game. Fear not, you can also sell your Reservation in our 24/7 marketplace at any point during the active season.
The way they word it, it doesn't limit you to selling your reservation only if your team makes it. The reservation would transfer to the team of the fan that it is sold to. In fairness, that is an assumption on my part, based on how they worded it, but it doesn't state that it does not transfer to another team going.

I stand corrected, I found where it will not transfer to another team once sold. However, the way the word it in how it works is very misleading.

quote:Exactly. And they are hoping (unfortunately) that alot of people will purchase these reservations. It gives them a great revenue stream to sell many more tickets (reservations) that there are tickets available....then at game time they still get to sell all of their tickets at face value. Huge win for the Sugar Bowl folks, and a win for the fans of the team that purchased the reservation.
However, the way the word it in how it works is very misleading.
IMO, it's a glorified Vegas betting futures system.

I've been reading through the thread, and checked the site just to be sure, found this:
Can I sell my Team Ticket Reservations in other markets?
Team Ticket Reservations are tied to a specific team and cannot be sold in other markets.

I can't believe they actually sold any of these things.

It's like trading options in securities.

Betting on your team seems like a much smarter idea. $200 on 15-1 odds = $3000.

In 2009, I bought in at $50 a piece. I bought 4 tickets... We have season tickets, and so I didn't need the team reserve option. I sold the ticket rights for $600 a piece...
$200 investment for $2400 return isn't bad.

But who gives a damn.

I knew Florida fans who bought in in 2009 for ticket rights at $100 a piece, then sold their rights before the SECCG for $600 a piece. The price increases as teams do well and demand increases... So you can always get your money back until the team loses...The people who bought in before the seccg were the ones holding the biggest risk.
