It will effect the atmosphere for sure, people like me will still get some beverage in there but students will likely trend to staying away. No more drinking games and whatnot.......the worst part is it will definitely cut down on the eye candy out there, which on a nice day can be considerable
It'd be different if kids were throwing up in the outfield, throwing beer cans all over the place and what not. But the students knew they were getting a huge privilege by being able to drink. Everyone kept to themselves, cleaned up after themselves also. Yea people got drunk but they weren't disturbing anybody. It's not messing up anything within Baum or other people. If it did then I could justify them removing the alcohol.

Yeah I agree, I've been to many games at Baum in my later highschool years and I never saw anyone throwing beer cans in the outfield or trashing the place. If that was the case, UAPD should have the right to set a limit but what I've seen, there should be nothing to lead them to change their policies they've used in the past.

I commend Arky for doing what is right and enforcing campus laws.

Our campus is not dry that I am aware of.
Baum isn't even technically on campus, IIRC.
I'll still be having my drink on tomorrow in a box, but I hate this for the outfield crowd. There haven't been any major incidents that I am aware of. I probably go to at least 20 games per year for several years going, and I have never seen anything thrown onto the field, and I have never seen a big fight or anything like that, ever.

Yeah I don't think campus is dry because many of the fraternity houses are owned by the university and they allow people over the age of 21 to drink in them.

Plus there's a bar on Old Main Lawn....

It is so dumb. If you want to do something then just ID people as they come in if they have a cooler. That's better than just banning all alcohol.
If they actually actively enforce this there will be a noticeable drop in ticket sales IMO.

You people quit acting like assholes when you drink, this crap wouldn't happen.

do either of those examples make the campus "wet"? Serious question. I've heard LSU is a dry campus. I dont really know what that means to be honest.
Posted on 2/14/13 at 12:36 pm to bbap
Yes that makes it a wet campus. If you are allowed to drink alcohol on the property (assuming you are of legal age) then it is a wet campus. If it was dry then you wouldn't be allowed to bring alcohol into the dorms.

Way to go Arky fans, you ruined a good thing. Thank goodness AD Long stood up and did something about this.

I agree. For the past 4 years, I've gone to at least 15 games a year at baum, and from '02 to '05 even more and my experience is that there are very few problems related to this, we do take it like a privilege.
I don't how this will go for this year but the trend seems to be heading towards no alcohol at some point in time. The fricken snobby blue hairs and other associated stuffy religious types are the cause of this.
It just burns them up that somebody else might be enjoying life while they sit miserable in their own skin

Pragmatically speaking, it may be more of a liability issue than anything else..let one person get hit by a drunk driver that got drunk at a baseball game and watch the ambulance chasers show up like a deer to feed corn next to a salt lick.

I am gonna see how they treat this rule on Friday before I get too pissed. I am going Sunday and I better be able to bring in some brews.

quote:i noticed they cracked down a bit when we moved to the new place. at the old box almost anything went in left field but i dont if its the same anymore.
What are the alcohol regulations at the box?
I do know we have to have stupid looking bleachers everywhere instead of the really cool looking hills and party areas that other schools get. that does make me very jealous of other stadiums

@GameOn933FM reporting checks at #Baum will be for guns, knives, etc. UA spokesperson wouldn't commit to saying alcohol when asked directly.
They feel the pressure?
