I think every player knows how to play on dirt and grass, but few on real turf know how to play the ball or slide creating an advantage for the team with astro turf.

Ball bounces totally different, tons of ground rule doubles. Have to slide halfway to the bag.

With many teams on fake turf, might as well join them so they don't have an advantage over you.

Turf baseball sucks. But so does turf domed football.

If what you said is true, and I think it is, then the opposite is also true.

UGA too now unfortunately.

And with Georgia, it's even more mind-blowing because they market their own natural athletic turf, Tifway 419.

No, everyone has played on grass and dirt their entire upbringing in the sport.

Yep, I couldn't believe it when I first heard. And our dumbass AD social media page was highlighting it like they were proud of it.

Supposedly Wes wanted it for off season camps. Stupid as frick regardless of the reasoning.

Well if UGA is doing it, forget it. They run the conference.

It's not like it takes long to get used to the changes.

Wes is the best coach we maybe have ever had. If he says he wants it, the fools are the ones that question it

Lol! Dumbass take.

1- way too earlier to say Wes is anywhere close to our best coach ever.

2- I don't care if Tony Larussa was the coach, an artificial turf baseball field is sacrilegious and should not exist below the Mason-Dixon line.

Dumbass.

Then why change to fake grass and fake dirt? Are schools that cheap that they can't afford the upkeep on real grass? And as for the dirt.... hell, even cajunbama can afford to keep dirt looking like dirt!

Vandy's field looks like it's on Botox. And it is constantly getting injections.

It is vast improvement though from the 90's. It was well known that you could twist an ankle on the sprinkler system. Poorest field conditions in the SEC. It is likely why they went to turf, lower maintenance, lower cost..

It is a sign of the times. Even America's pastime has gone to shite. I bet their apple pie is gluten free and their hot dogs are vegan, too.

America's pastime? Maybe 50 years ago. And c'mon, there are lots of great things about today's times. BBQ has taken the country by storm -- far better than rubbery hot dogs. And I'll take cheesecake or carrot cake over apple pie any day as well.

Keep up, or be left behind.

Because turf never gets muddy and you don't have to keep 10 yards of touch-up dirt piled up behind the bullpen. When the lightning goes away, you immediately play ball. No groundskeeping delays.
