Ummm. That was stupid.
Dye won or shared 4 SEC championships in the 1980's. He won 3 straight. AU was the SEC team of the 80's. He won a national championship in 1983. He won 2 sugar bowls. He had a heisman trophy winner. He broke a 9 year drought against Bama in his second year. He won 4 straight against Bama and was two fluke plays away from winning 8 straight against Bama.
Dude, you live in Fantasyland! Your hero, Pat Dye, was a .500 coach against Bama. You also conveniently forget that Dye's Golden Age of Barnerball coincided with Bama's coaching carousel. Remember? Most Barners, includung yourself, like to laugh at out 80's ineptitude?
And Dye could only manage a .500 record against THAT???
And '83 NC? Please.
Awesome, T-n-M. Awesome!

You may now start your usual childish rant in rebuttal.

To my knowledge 1964 Alabama is the ONLY program in the history of ANY college sport male or female to claim a national championship after losing their final game/match of the season
Tennessee also lost to Oklahoma in their bowl game for 1967, yet, they still claim to have won the title.

Guess you are just a complete dumbass.
1. Dyes golden age of the 80's vs Bama coaching carousel: You do realize when Dye arrived, we had not beaten Bama in 8 years? Dye turned that around in year 2. The Bama coaching carousel was a direct result of Dye beating Bama's arse. Otherwise, Bama was pretty decent in the 1980's. AU won 4 straight against bama. It would have been 8 straight IF Van tiffen had not hit a miracle fg on an equally miraculous 28 second drive that almost never happens. Then if Bo does not get the wrong play in the huddle in 1984, it is an 8 game winning streak.
2. The 80's were the last decade neither AU or Bama was on probation. AU had the better team 8 straight years (1982-1989), won or shared 4 SEC titles and was the SEC team of the deacade.
Do you ever make a point you can actually back up and/or defend in any of your posts?

Oh yeah, I have made over 6000 posts on TD. Find 1 where I laughed at Bama's "ineptitude" in the 1980's. You can't because I never have even though I often am critical of bama.
Now quit running your ignorant mouth when you know nothing to begin with.

Hardly. You're just pissed as usual that I don't agree with you.

You say Dye turned things around against Bama in year two. Why didn't he dominate Bama then? He was a .500 coach against decent, not great, Bama teams.
And please stop with the if's. I could probably serve up a couple dozen of those during AU's latest streak of 6 against us.

You were on probation in '83, remember? And we beat you twice in that stretch...you really think AU was better between '82-'89? Okay, enjoy thinking that.

Sure. Am I gonna get an answer about Mr. Chopblock in the next few months?

Good one.

So you think Bama was a dominating team from '83-'90?

Dude... I think Miami is a slight Auburn lean at this point. Stop recruiting him. Move on to Ross.

Here's an article with her attorney's comments: LINK
Although the mother of a former University of Alabama football player told a judge that she was allowed to use a company credit card in exchange for steering her son to play for the Crimson Tide, her attorney said Friday that there's no way the school had any idea of her claims or knew anything about it.
'There's not one iota of proof,' attorney Earnest Wright of Birmingham said. 'No court in America could say that Alabama was involved.'
Robin Lee Jones of Birmingham made the claim Thursday while asking for leniency from U.S. District Judge Scott Coogler. She was facing a minimum of five-to-eight years in prison for stealing through wire fraud before pleading guilty in March to stealing from Barber Dairy Co., where she worked for eight years.
Coogler rejected her claim and sentenced Jones to four years. Her brother, Robert Lee, who also pleaded guilty in the case, had already been sentenced to 23 months in prison. The two must pay more than $256,963 in restitution.
Her son, Dominic Lee, was a defensive tackle from 2003 to 2006, who grew up a 'die-hard' Alabama fan and always wanted to play for the Tide. He committed in Oct. 2002 when Dennis Franchione was head coach and signed after Mike Price was hired.
Lee made seven starts, all as a senior, and played in 39 games. He could not be reached for comment.
'She never did say that Alabama knew anything about it or her son knew anything about it,' said Wright, the South Carolina alumni chapter president in Birmingham. 'I take that stuff like that very, very seriously.
'I have no doubts if they had known they would have shut it down in a heartbeat.'
Jones oversaw the company's Fuelman fleet credit card system, and said she was given an unauthorized card to use which was later discovered during an audit.
According to court records, the card was used to make diesel fuel purchases for RJ Trucking, the company owned by Jones and Lee, and for repairs on vehicles owned by Jones and her family. The conviction was for purchases made from 2005-7.
'There's a lot that didn't match up,' Wright said. 'She said it herself that it started in 2002.'

Folks on volchat are wondering if the NCAA has been notified.

Posted on 8/1/09 at 12:19 pm to Alahunter
With all the hate out there, I bet they are getting tired of being "notified". I bet they've been "notified" about a lot of stuff.

So are you saying that as long as the school claims ignorance to the situation, that bama bosters can buy recruits for the program without fear of more sanctions by the NCAA? Not to mention this was going on while bama was on probaiton for buying players and "looking down the barrell of the gun".
Saban is going to blow a head gasket if he loses scollys because some ya-hoo was/is giving away fleet cards to some recruits parents. If this was going on at bama right after the Means case then some bosters will never learn and it's likely still going on to this day. Bama has one of the best recruiters in the country in Saban and there are likely still some bama bosters that can't leave well enough alone. If I was a bama fan I would be pissed.

Do you not get that she pleaded guilty to stealing the cards in March, and then changed her story this week. Not to mention the company you are suggesting did this is owned by Auburn almuni.

Somebody didn't read the article and the part that she plead guilty to stealing and was convicted of stealing the money.
