Michigan was #8 in the country, and they have lost two games - crushed by Bama, a one score loss to Notre Dame. They have crushed everyone since then. But since you don't want to accept rankings as indicative of strength, we can't use Michigan.

Arkansas was ranked top ten, and we beat them when they were ranked top 15, iirc. They have been playing well the last two games, after falling apart. But since we can't use rankings to determine strength, they are a nobody. Alabama beat them 52-0.

Florida, on the other hand, beat an LSU team that we all just KNOW is great. They are ranked #6, which PROVES they must be elite, so Florida is obviously strong and should be ranked #1.

Ok.

as far as Florida goes, since expansion We're 7-7 vs Florida, but we have a losing record vs Tennessee since expansion.

You also have a losing record to us since expansion. The point is, Florida is a much tougher opponent, and they have been since expansion. If the idea is to ensure an even rotation within an 8 game schedule, the only way to do that is to eliminate permanent cross-division games.

And we've played Florida every year, with the exception of '07, since 2005. If we win the West this year we will more than likely play them in Atlanta in December.

A couple of those games were in Atlanta. You'll only have to play Florida about twice a decade now.

I just hope we don't get to coast through an easy schedule and then beat the hell out of an overrated LSU team, like we did last year. That would be unfair.

You know, the UA SIG really isn't the gospel.

Lol. Do you really not think there is a different between preseason rankings, and the first BCS standings? LSU isn't a more quality win than Michigan or Arkansas(speaking of Arkansas, did you see what Johnny Football did to them? He broke Archie Manning's 50 year old record for total offense. Wait. Weren't you saying Aggies aren't allowed to use the Arkansas win as evidence of anything?) I'm not saying Alabama shouldn't be ranked number one, I was simply discounting the previous assumption Alabama deserves it simply on their body of work. Calm down, bro. Your team is number one. You're falling in to the Skip Bayless territory of sports reasoning.

No, I'm not. You are falling into the same reasoning with Florida.

Alabama has played a clearly good team (Michigan) and beat them to death before halftime. Arkansas was nowhere near what we thought they would be, but we beat them 52-0. We almost had three straight shutouts, but our backups didn't hold late in the 4th quarter in yet another blowout. This isn't hype, this is evaluating a team.

And did you miss my first post in this thread, where I said I'd rank Florida ahead of us right now based on schedule?

The point you're not getting, or simply ignoring, is that Notre Dame has the same argument as Florida, only stronger. The combination of teams they have beaten is more impressive than Florida's collective resume, but you are either less impressed with how they "look", or you are dismissing them for some other reason.
