Hey guys,
Just watching Bama and LSU defense this year has been allot of fun. Looks to me like the Bama defense is built on size, speed and brute strength. LSU's seems to be built on athleticism and speed. Both are allot of fun to watch. The one major difference I can see is the size of the player difference. Here is the average sizes by position.

Bama Line 6.2 305 - LSU Line 6.3 273
Bama Linebackers 6.3 253 - LSU Linebackers 6.1 218
Bama Corners 6.2 195 - LSU Corners 5.10 178
Bama Safeties 6.2 214 - LSU Safeties 6.1 198

Looks like Bama may be built to deal with teams that play power football where as LSU may better suited for the spread teams of today. Just wondering what everybody feels.

An extra week off to rest could come in handy for us, this game might be decided by QB position. JJ coming back for us could give us the edge because of his legs. Containing Richardson will be key also, make him a non factor and we win. Easier said than done. Height of DBs will be a factor, weight? not so much. Several games to be played before Nov. 5th, many things can change by then.

Geaux Tigers!

This post has more to do with the differences in the type players both use, not as much to do with how the defenses have played to date. I know it is not a new topic however I was more interested in the opinions of others on how the difference in the size vs speed would play out during the course of the year. Been a long time since I have seen two defenses this good coming out of one division in college football.

You suck at averages . All I had to see was your CB comparison. 6'2 for Bama my arse. 5'10 for LSU? we have 2 CB's under 6 foot, plus a 6'4 athletic monster in simon

I don't know man. They seem pretty much even to me. Athleticism is about the same from both. I might give the nod to LSU on speed. If I had to guess, I'd say the better rested defense of the two would win.

Just my opinion..

It's possible Alabama would have problems with a no-huddle spread (a good QB, of course), with many 2 or 3 step drop throws ... can't say for sure, but the type of defense they play you have to wonder. Just start faking injuries like LSU does to slow it down.

LSU is more of a hybrid, but from what I see, LSU contains the run and dares the other team to pass. LSU is built on speed, but has enough size up front.
