people on the rant point out all the time that it was a different game back then and throw out stats. Kinda hypocritical to claim titles and not count the stats
I threw out stats last fall and the rantards raised hell about it.
Tell me...which way should I approach this?

The aggies claiming retroactive national championships awarded decades after the fact by eggheaded mathematicians isn't the worst of it.
Notice how they now claim 20 "conference championships."
17 Southwest Conference
1 Big 12
... and two division titles, one of which was a co-title (and they didn't even advance to the conference championship game).

What's the old saying? You put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig.

I wonder if it would be a good ideal to have a SecRant OP poll on how many NC's everyone has...
...or maybe not.

If only everyone went by consensus national titles. All of these were awarded at the time with actual hardware that's still around. No retroactive bs.
The one 'good'(?) thing about the current process is what the clubs and guys play for. The AP is still a major selector but no one plays for this. We're at a point where everyone (who is actually in contention) wants to win 'The Crystal'. The AFCA trophy is a constant back to 1950 now, and this is the goal, not AP nor FWAA, etc. I think in time this will be considered 'The NC' and the others will slowly recede, much like the old NFL then AFL champions. The Super Bowl is pretty much the only thing discussed now. As another poster had pointed out, whether one agrees with the process or not, it's the only one signed on to by everyone, through representation. Of course, for LSU this means we are down to two.
But I'm riding this 21st century deal like a rented mule.

It's a blog I guess. But replacing NU, CU, A&M and Mizzou with WVU and TCU is not the path to long term success. Does the B12 even make it to 2015?

Exactly. As bad as the BCS as been at times, it's the first system that everyone agreed to play under.

I present you this...from your own athletic department:
You didn't just claim a division title, you claimed a conference title in a year that you weren't even in the title game!
That would be like us claiming the 2010* Big 12 title because we beat both teams playing in the title game.
STFU and may God have mercy on your soul.

That 2008*, is that the year that TT, UT and OU were pretty good but OU got the nod due to BCS ranking?

Can the SEC go back to 12 teams? Texas and A&M need a room so they can settle their lover's quarrel.

Typical Texas Longhorn, points finger, runs away when three more point back

Yep. Texas didn't want anyone else to remember that they lost to Texas Tech while Oklahoma beat them by over 50.
