I totally missed this post. Wasn't ignoring you.
I think Hightower will do a good job for two reasons. He spent the entire season learning all the calls... watching what Ro did... and making calls from the sideline for Nico.
The other reason is, his physical gifts (believe it or not) are superior to Rolando's. Before his injury, he was bigger, faster, and stronger than McClain. If his knee is good to go, he'll be better than Ro was.
No prob.....
I could see Hightower being just as good as McClain. I don't know if he'll pick things up immediately like McClain did or not, but we'll know by mid-season.
It will be interesting to see if his speed is the same after knee surgery. Some guys lose some speed and some guys don't.....

I was never really convinced that Tyler Love was a 5* talent anyway. He may get a shot to contribute his redshirt senior year, probably not though.

Remember he had a year and a 4th playing next to Rolando, then he got to spend a season just learning, from the sidelines. If his physical abilities are intact, he'll be a badass. If not we'll suffer.

Make Love Bug lose 30 Lbs and make him a TE!

People love to rip Tyler love, but in reality he is the best pass blocking tackle on the Bama team. He has the feet of a TE. He just lacks strength in is run blocking to start for Bama.
If he played for a pass happy team he would have started day 1.

I only disagree about a couple of points. Menzie will most likely see the field a bunch. He'll probably be the nickel defender, if not one of the starting corners. I don't think Saban would waste (perhaps not the best word) a scholly on a player to sit the bench for 2 years. He's hopefully going to be ready to run without having to learn to walk beforehand.
I just don't see Jerrell Harris getting much PT again this season. For whatever reason after 2 lackluster seasons, I just don't think it's clicking with him. I'm going to have to disagree about Harris without making any other recommendations.

Harriss was the back up to reamer and Hightower before he was suspended and that allowed Nico to get his spot which he never relinquished. Harris was due for a break out year last year just the laptop thing was a huge set back.

Still trying to gain weight (6-7 290 is pretty lean for an OT at Bama) ,
Looking at his frame appears he would not had thit much trouble putting on the weight.

There were a few questionable 5* recruits out of the state of AL recently. Him being one of the few.
It's like talent just suddenly shot way up in AL when Saban got to Bama, but really, it didn't (At least the elite 5* talent).

Dequan Menzie and Dre Kirkpatrick will be the starting CBs in my opinion. Robby Green and Mark Barron will be the safeties.
