I think it was a good no call. Notice you didn't post the video either

When a player hits another player in the chest, part of the helmet will make contact with the face mask. There’s no avoiding that. Clearly this is a perfect form tackle.

Who said he was penalized for fighting? He got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. That's 15 yards.
While fighting may not be very sportsmanlike, there is an actual rule against it. Why wasn't it applied? How can a ref see unsportsmanlike conduct and not see the fighting? Was there something else about Davis' play that was unsportsmanlike?

quote:
SECTION 32. Fighting
ARTICLE 1. Fighting is any attempt by a player, coach or squad member in
uniform to strike an opponent in a combative manner unrelated to football.
Such acts include, but are not limited to:
a. An attempt to strike an opponent with the arm(s), hand(s), leg(s) or foot
(feet), whether or not there is contact.
During the second half, players shall not participate in a fight.
PENALTY—15 yards. For dead-ball fouls, 15 yards from the succeeding
spot. Automatic first down for Team B fouls if not in conflict
with other rules. Disqualification for the remainder of the
game and the first half of the next game [S7, S27 or S38, and
S47]. For fighting in the last game of a season, those with
remaining eligibility shall serve suspensions during the first
game of the next season for which they are eligible.

Aren't you guys the kings of still shot penalty photos?

So, bama fans, how do you explain the difference in discipline with these incidents?
Or is "conspiracy" the answer you wanted?

Great....another penis envy post.

Davis was suspended for the 1st half of the Tennessee game.

Alabama was dealing with disciplinary issues involving two star players — DL Raekwon Davis and RB Damien Harris — during the early going against Tennessee.
Davis was held out of the first half after repeatedly punching a Mizzou player the previous week, while Harris didn’t get the start due to “internal reasons.”

No, I'm betting Alabama fans won't be thinking it's funny when their QB is getting beat the frick up while he's laying on the ground.
But it's okay, LSU will handle it internally after the game.
But what is funny is Alabama fans lecturing LSU fans on how to play the game and apply the rules. You'd be falling out of your lazy-boy, shitting on yourself, screaming out for God's vengeance if you saw that happening to Tua in Tiger Stadium. And you know it.
But in the meantime, just keep lecturing LSU fans, I'm sure someone will think you have a valid point somewhere - even if it is just another stupid aggie.

Bama fans, how do you explain/justify the discrepancies in officiating/punishments?
There's nothing to explain. I've only seen anecdotes, not data.
Is there a champions bias? Sure. LSU got the benefit of that against us when you guys were on top. It's not a conspiracy. You just don't call a foul on Jordan in the lane.

Are you asking me what the ref saw and how he interpreted it? As someone without a tin foil hat, I have to assume he didn't see exactly what happened, or he didn't feel Raekwon's love taps qualified as fighting. I understand what YOU with your foil hat will believe.
Every Bama fan I know thought he should have been kicked out of the game and we're fine with Saban suspending him.
But, I know, I know, you don't like how the ref interpreted whatever he saw and it's yet another "obvious" case of the refs cheating for Bama. Because, throwing the guy out of the game, in addition to the the 15 yard penalty would have given Mizzou a shot and the ref knew it.
Also Bigfoot is real, and can you tell us what kind of treatment LSU is going to give Tua?

You have to be fricking kidding me.

he didn't see exactly what happened
If he didn't see what happened, he wouldn't have thrown a flag. If he saw what happened, there is only one course of action, including an ejection for the offending player.
quote:

Why not give him the Raekwon treatment? After all, punching a man when he's down is open to interpretation, amirite?

Think about that being Tua having Lawrence being all "unsportsmanlike" on him while he's on the ground, and about how it will make you feel.

Why not? Not only do we have space in your head, we have space all over your highways.

Ok, the ref thought it was blatant fighting, on live TV, but didn't throw him out of the game because he didn't think the cameras caught it. He also knew if he threw him out, Mizzou might make a huge comeback in the fourth quarter and knock Bama out of the playoffs.
But, wait, don't you guys always talk about how it's "the timing" of the penalties? Wouldn't this be a great time to hit Bama with one of those meaningless penalties that don't affect anything but make it look like we get penalties called on us?
I'm having difficulty keeping up with which version of the conspiracy theory fits your narrative best in each argument. Which one applies here?
