Under the old system, people might have picked UGA as one of the final two. We see what happens when you have to win it on the field.

Undoubtedly.
That's why we fired our coaching staff and took one with a track record and potential.

And they should have been there because they beat Ole Miss in the regular season and then the rematch against Alabama in the SECCG.
I don't blame Ole Miss for making the best out of the system, but the idea Georgia wouldn't have belonged in the BCS because of the rematch is bullshite.
It should have been Georgia vs Indiana in a BCS style championship because they were the ones who showed they were the best teams during the regular season.
A tournament at the end is just a tournament winner where what matters is getting hot and lucky at the right time, that's all.

I don't think you really know what Lane Kiffins track record is.

none of them belonged
drop it to 8 and move the bowl games to the front of the season

Ummmm...why not Oregon instead of UGA? This is why we make people prove it on the field.

I think you're fricking terrified.

Because Oregon lost to Indiana.
Believe it or not, regular season games are played on the field.

Believe it or not, regular season games are played on the field.
But that doesn't make UGA more worthy than Oregon. As bowl season has shown, the Big 10 clearly better this year.

Of what, and is it more or less than when you all said this after you hired Brian Kelly?
The guy has 2 big wins in his entire career, Georgia last year and against USC @ Oregon in 2011.
Earlier this year Ole Miss blew a 9 point lead to Georgia under him. Without him, Ole Miss wins the game despite getting screwed by the refs.
Last year he beat Georgia, but also blew a lead @ LSU and lost that game, then managed to find a way to lose to a terrible Kentucky team, and a Billy Napier lead Florida team.
I think he has a total of 2 road wins against ranked teams in his entire career.
He was the head coach of the Raiders when I lived out in the south bay for work. He left the NFL as one of the worst coaches in the history of the sport. Couldn't shut his mouth at USC and couldn't back it up, constantly embarrassing the program.
Kiffin will need to be a different coach to meet the LSU expectations.

Bowl season doesn't mean anything, and Ohio St lost to Miami if you want to go down that route.
Oregon had it's chance.

Ok, then if you want to talk about teams that didn't belong, you should probably start with the team that lost to them.

How about neither.

Kiffin just turned Ole Miss into a playoff contender with back-to-back upsets over Georgia and multiple 10+ win seasons, elevating a program that rarely sniffed that level. At LSU's talent and resources, Kiffin's offense will feast.

Getting rid of the 12 team playoff is fine with me, but that's not what the OP was about.

Kiffin did not beat Georgia twice, he only did it last year. This year he blew a 9 point lead against Georgia. Golding and Ole Miss are the ones who managed to come back from a 9 point deficit.
It's unlikely Kiffin wins that game last night because he's all about analytics and crap rather than taking field goals. Have LSU fans forgot how he managed to blow the game against LSU in 2024 against Brian Kelly?
And Hugh Freeze had them almost up there, and then they got hit with sanctions between that and the hiring of Kiffin.
Ole Miss is the one putting the money into the program.

Navy would not have lost by 35 to Indiana.
Pretty sure Arkansas would've scored at least one touchdown, maybe two, against them and we were 2-10
