Dee Hart will be our specialist. He will be explosive out of the backfield on passing downs whether catching passes or running draws. Hart is the wildcard, bitches.

really, bama's backfield is better???

This is what both teams return. Minus bama and LSU's starter from last year. These are the numbers from SEC games only.

In a previous thread about our RBs it was mentioned numerous times about RBs getting a bunch of yards and carries in garbage time against cupcakes.

Since SEC fans claim there are no off weeks in conference and everybody plays great "D" in the SEC that is why only conference games used.

player A. 76 carries 444 yards 5.8 ypc

player B. 51 carries 344 yards 6.7 ypc

player C. 55 carries 334 yards 6.0 ypc

player D. 61 carries 325 yards 5.3 ypc

player E. 41 carries 255 yards 6.2 ypc.

You figure out what two are bama's and what three are LSU's?

Lacy is probably the best RB in the SEC and TJ is probably next.

You don't really believe that do you?

No need to compare LSU or Alabama running backs. The thread is regarding if Alabama will have good running backs to go with there great offensive line.

I think most guys have answered this question. Glenn Coffee was not a great talent at running back and he had close to 1400 yards rushing with Alabama. I think you can almost ganruntee Alabama will have stud running backs, safeties, and middle linbackers under Nick Saban.

Eddie Lacy, Dee Hart, TJ Yeldon, Kenyan Drake, and Jalston Fowler I think will form a very good running back rotation for the Tide. No worries.

Well I know none of those five are returning starters for Alabama because Eddie Lacy averaged 7.1 yards per carry in 2011 and Jalston Fowler averaged 6.9 yards per carry in 2011.

Those numbers were strickly from SEC competition. No cupcakes to run up the stats.

Those numbers are from bama's top two returning RBs and LSU's #2, #3 and #4 RBs from last year.

My post was in regards to the bama fan that said the tide's group of RBs was better than LSU's.

I didn't even include LSU's starting RB's numbers. It was just the backups from last year for the tigers same as bams.

Too bad stats are all-encompassing. And I don't care what Lacy's YPC average was against SEC and non-SEC competition. The fact that he averaged 7.1 YAC while suffering from a bad case of turf toe all season last year is the only stat I need. And, let's not forget, this is the same turf toed Eddie Lacy who was dragging LSU defenders down the field on 1/9.

And, I also don't want to forget to mention that, up until Alabama began SEC play last year, many of your kind were saying that Eddie Lacy was superior to Trent Richardson.

Why didn't you just create an alt with some kind of Bama name so you wouldnt look so obsessed with all things Alabama?

As long as his immense dreads don't weigh him down, Lacy will be awesome and extremely fun to watch.

1st String - Eddie Lacy is no real drop off from either Ingram or Richardson. So you're a moron if you think he's not in their league. Yes he had a higher yardage per carry than either, but it was usually against a tired defense, but.... His turf toe will be fine by fall. He's the real deal...

Lacy is talented, but let's take off the crimson glasses for a second. The dude is nowhere near the same caliber player as Ingram or Richardson. We have depth this season at RB, but Richardson will be highly missed.

This. When Mark Ingram committed to Alabama in January 2008, most people on the Scout and Rivals boards weren't even paying too much attention to him. Ivan Matchett was considered to be the jewel RB in the class and many regarded the addition of Ingram as Saban making sure there was quality depth at the position. Matchett, however, went on to sustain career-ending injuries in camp.

Scout recruiting rankings are a joke. Rivals and ESPN are what most folks pay attention to. Rivals had Ingram as a 4-star, maybe ESPN too. He wasn't very hyped, but some services knew he would be a good college back.

If Lacy can stay healthy and get at least 15 carries a game, he won't put up Ingram/Richardson type numbers but he will rush for between 1,200-1,500 yards with 12+ rushing TD's which will make him an All-SEC back. That's more than enough to make this offense very, very good.

Actually the only lacy stat that I care about is his ypc VS LSU.

In two games VS LSU he has 16 carries for 62 yards. That's less than 4 yards a pop.

As for 1/9 on the other nine carries he had 21 yards. I'll give him those TWO good ones but, the other nine weren't that impressive.

In the game back in november he had five total carries and his last four carries went for negative yardage.

What kind am I? The only people I have ever heard say lacy is actually better than richardson are bama fans.

So lacy got hurt PRESEASON last year. I thought it was about halfway through the season?
