....after they finish whipping the Moo Moo's hangin' chads come October.

“I think that living here can be really fun, but as a tourist, you’re pretty much just drinking, and there isn’t even a lot of entertainment for folks who are drinking… I think a lot of people come for festivals, so they already have something to do by default, but if you’re not coming for a festival, it can be kind of boring,” said one resident. This capital city of Texas has many festivals like Austin City Limits and South by Southwest, but outside of these events, you may not find many unique things to do.

Btw.....The Swamp by the Gulf, Houston, was rated 8th.

Moooooooooooooooo.

The list of Most Overrated Cities to Visit: Quite the list.

Las Vegas
Los Angeles
Austin
Asheville
Denver
Branson
Orlando
Houston
Nashville
Honolulu
San Francisco
Miami

I haven’t been to Branson or Asheville, but of that list, Orlando is probably the only one I wouldn’t go back too, since my kids are grownup.

On any given night, there are 100+ live music venues in Austin. Unless you look and move like a whale, there are any number of outdoor places to go and relax and drink and dance and eat and unwind.

Austin is a fun and cool city

I am not a fan of big cities, but I have always had a good time in Austin.

My favorite part of Texas is the hill country

Austin is a shell of what it used to be. Sucks these days. Terrible traffic, terrible crowds, hobos on every corner, and the only saving grace is the food.

Retarded take, it will arguably be the best weekend of the entire year to be in what’s already a really fun town. Dawgs and the F1 crowd will be a wild combination.

Depends on how you define Austin. Hill Country just beyond the city limits is really cool and enjoyable even without a big event or festival to go to. But if you need a big attraction on a non-festival or game weekend beyond just wandering around, yeah, you might be left wanting in Austin proper. Really depends on how you plan your trip.

By the same token, Asheville can be a let down unless you’re into hiking and being outdoors; not all cities are made the same and you shouldn’t expect the same out of every city.

Lived in Austin area for 10+ years. Can confirm it is overrated. Traffic, filth, homeless, weirdos, and a shite ton of west coast freaks took over the city and suburbs. The surrounding area does have the best BBQ in TX though.

Pitch and Putt on Barton Springs is amazing. Most people don't even know it's there.
Kayak/canoe on Town Lake is fun.
Lots of cool places to swim + lots of parks with splash pads for youngers.

But yeah I think it's overcrowded too

Austin has a lot of outdoors places to go hang out. At least it used to. There is stuff to do.
