I wouldn't go that far. I'd put the odds at about 65% that he won't be back.

Please read my post. I said defenses learn how to defeat a gimmick schemes. It's not overnight. Of course there are other factors but if you think Malzhan is going to continue to dominate the SEC like he did then I think you are wrong.

Why do you think no other teams run the Wishbone or N.D. Box or other old offenses? Other teams learn to defend it and then the coaches start losing games and look for the next scheme.

Auburn shut down the great Oregon offense? How did they do that? Is it because they saw it in practice each day and knew how to defend it?

Because Nick Fairley and company dominated their OL and were in the backfield all game long much like our OL has been dominated this year.

Same way LSU did with bigger, stronger, better players. This is why I don't know how Boise beat GA

There in lies the key to the success of ANY offense. effective execution by the O Line. That is why the offense did well in 09 without Cam and why Auburn was able to win every game last year.

It will happen again when the O Line matures for Auburn. This is why I am laughing at the know it all who really knows nothing.

Sure it's been suggested but Crowton could be available.

Solid choice IMO. He certainly is... unique.

I had a college coach tell me that the a disciplined defense can soundly defeat a Malzhan offense. All the players need to do is recognize the reads properly. That comes from seeing it a few times. Like most gimmick offenses the defenses learn how to defend them.

Look at last year with a great OL and great defense yet they almost lost 6 games and only because of Cam Newton did they win them. So how can the offense of Malzham be so great if they can not dominate other teams with a great player like Newton?

This... I was actually thinking this today. All of the defenses we have played that are fundamentally sound, have given us big problems. Malzahn's offense is made for the pac12s, acc's... not for lsu/bama or anyone that plays defense

That is basically how you beat any offense. At the end of the day, it comes down to execution and talent. Lets take a look at LSU and Bama's offense. Neither of them are overly complicated, but they are very hard to stop because they are executed almost to perfection.

To say Malzahn's offense can be stopped with a sound, disciplined defense is like saying Auburn can be stopped if they don't score as many points as the other team.

I was more or less saying that we have to trick (run gimmicks) to succeed on offense. I dont feel like there is an attitude like "we are going to out perform you on this play or drive, and there is nothing you can do about it." Cam did that last year, but I am starting to believe last year was a blessing and a curse.
Blessing=National Champ
Curse=Possibility that we now have inept coaches for that much longer

I just don't understand that entire sentiment. We have had a fantastic offense 2/3 years with two very different style teams, however, those two years we had fantastic OL play. This year, we have the youngest team in the ncaa and some pretty terrible OL play. Regardless, that means defenses have figured out our offense.

Have teams figured out Malzahn? maybe, maybe not. However, if the team executes the plays called, they are very hard to stop. With how poorly we have been executing, it makes the playcalling that much more difficult.

not at all but I think that lies on the Defense not the offense.

Malzahn's scheme works, this year its the players fault.

no one came to play. Our o.line was sleeping. Boise actually has a pretty decent d.line.
