Except for Muschamp exploding after they missed the catch interference.

As far as rivalries go, the sec is trying to make Arkansas and mizzou rivals. By moving to the west mizzou wouldn't have to drop their old big 12 rival a&m. They could have both, and auburn, losing only the lsu rivalry, would add fla back while also keeping bama and Georgia. Makes perfect sense, however, sec just won't drop tenn-bama unfortunately.

I remember when AU played UF every year.

AU didn't even bitch about it, like some schools...

It was a great game, one I would like to see regularly again (I would actually like Alabama and Auburn to both move East- adding two teams from the west). But 4th best? I disagree- if we're going historical, I think these have to be ranked above Auburn-Florida

1. Alabama-Auburn
2. Auburn-Georgia
2. Alabama-Tennessee
4. Florida-Georgia
5. LSU-Ole Miss
6. Ole Miss-Mississippi State

(I actually think Auburn-Florida State should be a big rivalry, if they ever happen to join the SEC, which is unlikely. IIRC, they're the third-closest BCS school to Auburn, behind Alabama and Georgia)
Ranking those games by # of games played:

1.Au-Ga = 116 games
2.ole miss-miss st = 109 games
3.LSU-ole miss = 101 games
4.Bama-tenn = 94 games
5.UF-Ga = 90 games
6.UF-Au = 83 games
7.Iron Bowl = 77 games

Another great AU-UF game was the 1983 game, #5 UF at Auburn.

Bo started off the scoring with a 55-yard TD run. Then Randy Campbell put AU up 14-0 with a QB keeper on the option play. UF got back in the game with a 41 yard TD pass from Wayne Peace to Ricky Nattiel to make it 14-7. Auburn went up 21-7 with a 17-yd TD run from Little Train James.

Neal Anderson was one yard away from making the score 21-14 but AU safety Tommy Powell knocked the ball out of his hands just before he crossed the goal line, he fumbled the ball forward, and it went out of bound in the end zone.

So, with the score 21-7 and Auburn given the ball at the 20-yd line after the touchback, the first play by Auburn is Bo Jackson taking it 80 yards to the house to make the score 28-7.

Florida made a come back in the 4th quarter, scoring two TDs to make the final score 28-21, but it was too little, too late.

Bo's TD runs and the Anderson fumble are at THIS LINK.

Bo had 16 rushes for 196 yards and 2 TDs against a stout UF defense led by UF great Wilbur Marshall.

Wayne Peace through for 336 yds and 2 TDs with no ints.

IIRC, that was the only game Bo won vs Florida. Lots of good games though.

Game still po's me till this day. If Neal Anderson didn't fumble, that game was ours and so was the SEC championship. The only UF game Bo ran wild on UF's D.

Bo was 1-2 vs UF in his career

Wasn't Auburn the only SEC team Tebow never won against?

That's OK... Auburn recovered an onside kick in the closing minute of the 1982 game. Little Train James came out of the pile holding the ball and the referees awarded the ball to UF.

That one still pisses me off.

I think the same could be said of Pope Urban.

1983 game ranks as the 8th greatest game ever played at Jordan Hare according to the Wareagle reader.

8. Florida, 1983 season.

This game was a huge win for Auburn in Pat Dye’s best season as Tigers coach. The ’83 Gators were a strong unit—ranked fifth in the country—and were in fact the only team to defeat the Miami Hurricanes that year. Lots of future NFL players dotted the lineups of both squads. It was an epic clash in a season of epic clashes for then-#4 Auburn.

Could that be the 1984 shootout game. That was the best ever. I listened to it in the Westin Atl while overlooking the city.

I want to play Florida again. I don't care about playing Arkansas or Texas A&M (and to a lesser degree Ole Miss).

MOVE AUBURN TO THE EAST.

Stop blocking us Gumps.

That would be my guess. Fyfe had some great calls in that game. Wild and Wooly shootout in Tallahassee...

This. I want the Gators back. Damn I used to get amped up for AU/UF games. More than any UGA games for some reason and sorta like the Tubs vs LSU games.

BTW, I am familiar with some off the calls from the 80's by Fyfe due to a tape I had as a kid I used to listen too. Came out in 1989 for the First Time Ever game and one side was like a greatest calls of Fyfe. Listened to that tape so many times as a kid. 20 years later, I can remember the 1984 "wild and Wooly shootout" call from the AU-FSU game due to that tape. I know more about the game though from reading Pat Dyes column. He said it was the wildest game he was ever a part of and actually got a 45 yard unsportsman like penalty that also negated a 20 yard gain which resulted in a total penalty of 65 yards on Dye.
