The FBI didn’t investigate any Auburn players either. I don’t think most of you even understand what happened. Chuck Person took money to direct players to a financial advisor and suit maker when they turned pro. He gave the players a little bit of the money and they paid it back. That’s why Wiley is only suspended for the year. Chuck Person is screwed though.

I would say that too if we had just gotten swept.

The players were ruled ineligible for this season because they took benefits from a prospective Sports Agent via our assistant coach. Essentially they received 5-8k. They lost a year of eligibility over it. Which is, as has been stated in this thread, harsher than similar punishments for taking similar amounts of cash in the recent past.
The FBI never investigated the players. That's why the kid who got 100k from UofL is eligible next season as well.

It's just like the Auburn Panthers Cam Newton thing. Will likely end that way too.
They leech onto any success a team or former player is having and troll so fricking hard about it.
Fire away the downvotes at me, Auburn fans. I want to see 20 downvotes!

I think it’s more sad to act like basketball doesn’t exist because you suck at it.

I didn’t realize the FBI investigated AJ Green?
Pretty similar, except the AU guys didn't get money directly.

Auburn in Georgia without it's most important offensive weapon.
Difference is basketball won without their best player in a sport which puts more emphasis on a single player. The football team fell completely apart, apparently.
Gus doing work.

basically did the same thing AJ Green did, but got a stiffer penalty.
Auburn has suspended Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy, two players believed to be implicated in the F.B.I.'s complaint against former assistant coach Chuck Person.
Person, who has been on Bruce Pearl's staff at Auburn since 2014, is facing six charges, including bribery conspiracy, solicitation of bribes and gratuities, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and travel act conspiracy, according to court documents. If found guilty, Person could face a maximum of 80 years in prison.
Would you mind showing me how AJ Green's situation is even remotely similar?

Person allegedly distributed $18,500 between the families of two student athletes in exchange for them using financial advisor Louis Martin Blazer III when they left for the NBA. $1,000 or $18,000...I guess that's close

True. I was making an assumption based on past rulings.

Yea. That fumble with 14 minutes left when we were driving to take the lead let the air out of the ballon. It was a valiant effort though with so many starters out. When Swift crosses the 50 on his run he is being chased by 4 Auburn back ups at the same time. To Bruce's credit he may have built what might be called "championship depth" sort of like Saban.
Keep searching on the Auburn investigation. It has since come out that Person kept the majority of the money for himself and only funneled 5-8k to each family. The reason it was brought up as similar is because an agent was funneling money to AJ just like Chuck was trying to do for AW and DP. The money is more, but it's also 10 years later and most people assume AJ got more than that 1k.
There is speculation AW and DP's families got less than 5k, which considering what the FBI has him receiving further illustrates how corrupt Chuck was due to his financial issues.

We had starters out, too, but that doesn't count, I guess.
quote:Wonderful. So our third string runningback was better and faster than your second string players, right? I mean, the only reason Swift has the ball in that spot was because Chubb was out of the game and Sony Michel was injured.
When Swift crosses the 50 on his run he is being chased by 4 Auburn back ups at the same time.
quote:The link I posted said split $18,000 between two families which makes about $9,000....kind of like you said in this post...but slightly different than the $1,000 that was purported earlier. In short, this was nothing like the AJ Green situation.

quote:Then you missed the part where and they found out that the guy that bought his jersey was not an agent. Other than that, yes. Exactly the same.
because an agent was funneling money to AJ
The only differences was AJ Green was not dealing with an agent. Only sold a jersey. And there was a lot less money involved.
As opposed to the Auburn players/families being fully aware they were dealing with an agent and it was for 9 times the amount of money.
The key word you use when AJ green is discussed is:
quote:
most people assume
And when you talk about the Auburn players:
quote:
There is speculation
What do we know?
AJ Green got $1,00 for selling a guy who was not an agent his jersey.(Which, I think is still a violation)
Auburn players and their families got between $5,000-$9,000 from a person they knew was an agent.
Absolutely the same situation.
