That's probably the case.

This, and fear in others to not do so. I think some mistakes have been made by enforcement a couple of times, but I do have empathy for them. It's difficult finding someone that doesn't want to be found, especially with so much public scrutiny and media watching every single move they make in the investigation. Dealing with stupid outside pranks is another burden they don't need to be wasting time on right now.

You're not getting it. Investigations are and have to be more thorough than comparing spelling in a couple of posts. The guy wasted resources with his prank. It was a bad idea, and a misdemeanor, as it interfered with an investigation. Sometimes being cute and funny, really isn't. People need to show a little maturity in certain situations.
Maybe if they cut their "give citizens as many tickets as possible" squad budget, they'd have more manpower and budget to use for things like this.

You're assuming all kinds of things on the burden of proof. You have no idea who the guy is or why he did the tweets. You've gone balls to the walls in defense of him, simply because you thought he was funny. The guy hindered the investigation, causing resources to be devoted to checking him out. He made a stupid mistake and he's solely to blame for his actions. Grow up.
I thought you said that you realized this was America. No one has any idea who the guy is...neither me nor you. No one knows why he did it. The burden is on the prosecution to prove those things, not the defendent. Me grow up? You obviously didn't pass a 12th grade government class. Why don't you grow a brain?
And where in this entire thread have I said the guy was funny?

You don't have a clue what you're talking about and I'm going to leave it at that.

I'm defending the guy because I believe his prosecution is going to be a substantial waste of taxpayer money if they end up charging him with a felony. I have no doubt in my mind that this saber rattling is originating from the mayor's office. The dude ended up with egg on his face after all of his grand proclamations last night and he's pissed. Someone has to swing for last night's debacle. So they are going to hang a practical joker on twitter who had no idea that his tweets were going to be as popular as they turned out to be.

This exactly. And there's not one damn thing funny about this.

Every single statement in your post is based on speculation and none on fact. Nobody should be impersonating a triple murder suspect who is on the loose at this time. There's nothing funny about it, it can do nothing but harm the victim's family and potentially waste the time of law enforcement.

True. But they are good guesses considering that the mayor was the first person last night who publicly threatened to charge the twitter-account user for obstruction after it became apparent that Leonard wasn't in the attic.

Ding, ding, ding! I think we have a winner! They want him to quit, and to deter anyone else from doing the same thing. Particularly someone who wants to help this guy.

You're defending a guy, you know exactly nothing about. You don't know who he is, what his intentions were or anything. The only thing known about him, is that he supposedly thinks it's funny to pretend to be a guy who just murdered 3 people, is on the loose and that the DA's office thinks has committed a crime. You know nothing more than that.

too many fricking idiots here.
If woosie would've left, 3 people would still be alive
If they never attacked woosie, 3 people would still be alive
If the party never happened, 3 people would still be alive
You cant say "if ____, then _____" and disregard all other ifs
It happened, and we can't change it
