That's an even dumber question than the condolence question.

The correct answer.

Yes, this will affect some of the current players for the rest of their lives. One of their friends was MURDERED!!

The smartass answer.

No, they are robots

The bad answer.

No, we will make sure that Clemson remains our prime focus.

I loved Emory Folmer. Under him, the city was perpetually in 1972...however, "the trains ran on time."

He would've been sporting a 'Mayor' hat, holding a shotgun, and would've been involved in the first wave of the assault team. Montgomery (and Alabama) could use him right about now. He damn sure wouldn't have been chatting up the media like Strange did.

You know, I have problems with the death penalty. It's often applied unfairly, mistakes are made, and the appeals take years, prolonging the agony for victims families. Not to mention costing a fortune. It's supposed to be a deterrent, but clearly that doesn't work.

But for people like Rudolph, who showed a complete disregard for human life, over and over again? It's kind of a shame he didn't get it.

He wouldn't have acted like a giddy schoolboy.

I miss Folmer answering questions from citizens on the radio. He was no-nonsense.

I think he should have received it, but I'm biased. The officer that was killed was a very good friend of my mother.

cliff notes on the day?

--Lots of bitching this morning on here about how nothing happened. How several of us were glad we didn't stay up for all that.

--Reuters comes out and says the FBI says the cops raided the wrong house last night. Disbelief ensues.

--Chief Tommy Dawson has a presser stating that they've upped the reward for his arrest. Says the guys in Montgomery had credible evidence that they believed he was there. Said they would not rest until they brought him in. Stated that they had been in contact with Desmonte's mother and she would encourage him to turn himself in if he reaches out to her. Reporter asks something about last night's "song and dance", and Dawson responds that they are chasing a triple murderer and will continue to spend whatever resources necessary.

--Montgomery's mayor has a press conference stating pretty much the same thing. Says they had other credible leads earlier on in the day that he was somewhere in the area. Later in the evening, they received two 911 calls. The first was from a man who claimed he dropped Desmonte off at the house. The second was from a woman who came home to find him in the house. She immediately left, got in her car and called 911. It took about 20 minutes for the first officers to arrive. They suspect he took off sometime in that timeframe as they located evidence in the house to suggest he was there. There is an active warrant out for the guy who dropped him off at the house. Says they know who he is. No charges against the woman who came home, but says there is a distant connection between her and Desmonte. Appears they believe he was targeting her residence because of the connection. Also took exception with the woman reporter earlier asking about last night's "song and dance". Says that when it comes to human life, they'll take no chances. They combed every inch of that house but wanted to do it safely. Chief of Police is asked about if he heard about the FBI guy coming out and saying they raided the wrong house. Stated that he was aware and made a phone call to him. Says the FBI agent was misquoted, and that they did indeed respond to the correct house.

--Gene Chizik has a press conference. Has to repeatedly tell certain reporters that this is not about football at the moment. Says he was made aware of the news Saturday night very quickly after it happened and was kept up to date. Offered his thoughts and prayers to all of the victims. Offered a few words about Ed and DaDa. Said they will have busses that will take whoever in the athletic department that needs transportation to both of the funeral services. Asked how this will affect recruiting and the upcoming season. Had to again explain that he doesn't care about football at this moment...cares about helping the players cope with the tragedy. Last question of the day is some bitch asking if he had received any offer of condolence from the University of Alabama. Explains that he has received so many letters, emails, etc. that he hasn't had a chance to read all of them.

--LanierSpots asks me for cliff notes on the day and I respond with a novel. Now my hands and wrists hurt.

You're damn straight. Emory wouldn't have pussy-footed around, he'd have been the first one up that ladder and he wouldn't have drug that shite out for hours upon hours.

He would have had the damn media sequestered out on Vaughn Rd and wouldn't have allowed them near the house.

My folks loved Emory and made my son sport a "Folmar for Mayor" bumper sticker on his red wagon throughout the neighborhood.

Didn't they allow him to plead guilty and avoid it? What a POS.

People like him are why I have issues with the death penalty. Some of the most deserving don't get it, the ones who are admittedly guilty and not repentant in any way.

Didn't catch this. So the guy who dropped him off called 911?

Yep. Police Chief said they were actively searching for him because they believed he knew at the time what Desmonte was wanted for.

Why the heck would he call 911 if he was supposedly helping Desmonte?

May be scared of the guy and just did what he asked. When he was finally away from him, decided to call. Dunno.

His bumper stickers didn't even say that....they simply said "FOLMAR." Everyone knew what he was running for.

Like I said, the city didn't develop much under him, but he kept Montgomery in the black and always made sure crime was under control. He was Colonel Jessup....you wanted him on that wall.

Why would he take him to the house, then call the police? Was he afraid of Desmonster? Guilty conscience? Hoping for a break on the warrant he has out? Just seems odd that he'd help him, then turn him in.

Correct. The death penalty was taken off the table if he pleaded guilty.

Your guess is as good as mine. Makes you also wonder why they still want the guy arrested even after letting the cops know where he was.

Thanks.....

Now I know I am going to be laughed at for this but can one of you younger folk please tell my old arse what "Montgomery Swag" is?

I have seen this mentioned a few times in some type of connection with the shooter and I honestly have no idea what the hell that is...
