Auburn dropped to 85th, because black football players aren't graduating. To the tune of 51%. While 100% of white football players are?? please.

quote:

Bynes, who is black, appeared more bothered by the graduation-rate disparity between black and white players than in the plunging numbers in the Academic Progress Rate. When asked for reasons, Bynes began to answer.

“Maybe because it’s — never mind,” said Bynes, who graduated in December. “I don’t want to say nothing.”

Rangers was in this very thread talking about how Au has the least help for academics than any other SEC team too.

But only black athletes are denied support right?

There you go, throw out the race card Jesse.

You're the one that insuated only players that put in effort graduated. 100% white did. 51% black did not. By your standard, you infer that on 49% of your black football players try. I think there's a bigger problem on the plains than you'd like to admit to in regards to how black athletes are used and treated.

I think the intent is clear. To show how problematic it's gotten at Auburn. They've gone from a 46% disparity, to 51% in one year. Usually when it's that bad to start, there's an effort to fix the problem. Auburn has gone in the opposite direction.

There is a bigger problem with highschool education. They all have equal access to education, Auburn is going to make changes to the current system to try and help players as best they can but Auburn will continue to offer less support than other Universities. By less support I mean being given copies of previous tests unless those tests are at the academic support center for regular students. Athletes are not given learning disabilities at a disproportionate rate and must have a history before just blindly being given one so they can get help. The list goes on and on, it is actually a bit tougher as a student athlete than a regular student at Auburn just due to the strictness of some of the rules. If you were to go to Auburn and no one caught a legit learning disability it is extremely difficult to get that level of help.

I can't believe people's blind hatred of other schools it is funny to read some of the stupidity that some actually want to believe about a rival school.

Exactly.

And what interesting timing to focus on one of 120 schools to show those numbers.

That is why it is a smear tactic. Had an article been written to show the many schools thqat are having this issue and cited Au as one of many...that would have been different. But whith AU playing on the big stage in 5 days...thsi is nothing more than mud flinging.

Please. There would be similar disparity rates at all the other colleges in Bama. There is not. That is a horrendous disparity and there is no excuse that OVER HALF of your black football players aren't earning degrees, when EVERY SINGLE white football player is.

The large disparity exists because such a high percentage of white athletes graduated, not because the Auburn's graduation rate for black athletes is in the absolute cellar. You capitalize "OVER HALF" in your post, but you do realize that Alabama and LSU's graduation rate for black athletes isn't much higher...and Oregon and Arkansas graduation rates for black athletes (quite a few other bowl teams as well) is lower than AUs.

If a team has 2 white players and 9 black players won't that skew the stats terribly?
