Point being, you can in fact lengthen the game using the hurry up, no huddle without being a pass factory.

In Gus's two seasons at Tulsa, Tulsa ran the ball one (1) more time than they passed.

That is picture perfect balance.

Not neccessarily. I've had this argument several times and it probably won't make sense, but compared to the national average having a 50/50 split isn't balanced.

While it's not pass happy a team that throws the ball as much as it runs is not balanced compared to the national average.

Does this make sense?

In comparison to what he'll be facing, he had a talent advantage at Tulsa.

I'll bow out of this thread for a bit. I know Gus. I watched him shatter every Arkansas offensive HS record out there. I watched him move from little insignificant Arkansas high schools to Auburn.

His offensive philosophy has led him to the highest levels of success. In three years of college coaching he "reintroduced" the Wildcat formation that has since swept college and NFL football. In three years of college coaching he has won offensive coordinator of the year twice. He has had the #1 and #2 offenses in the nation.

Gus has had people laugh at him since he left the HS ranks and he has done nothing but succeed since.

Auburn made a damn good hire and will bring a brand of football that might revolutionize SEC football.

Have a nice day. Woo Pig Sooie

They did make a good hire. Malzahn could have done better in my opinion. I just don't see anything good coming from Auburn next year. I don't think that Malzahn has been brought into a sitiuation where he has a great chance of success.

InElishaITrust, did your mom not fix you lunch today. You are really grumpy. I guess putting down Auburn makes you feel better about Houston Nutt?

I am just basking in the glow of Auburn's awful management. It started when they fired tubby, and why would I need to feel bad about Houston Nutt when Auburn fired one of the few coaches better than he was for a coach that might be as bad as coach O.

He is just hoping Ole Miss will take AU's place as an elite team in the West. Won't happen or will be very short lived in all probability.

Ole Miss fans are just upset because Gus showed Hooten his offensive philosophy and will thus be bursting their Ole Miss bubble for more 7 or 8 win seasons once Auburn owns their sorry excuse for a coach.

Nutt referred to Gus as High School -- well now High School will be owning the NUTT.. I love it -- great move Auburn and War Eagle.....

HawgAlude, I am glad I am not the only one who noticed every Ole Miss fan post is negative. They think they are the shite now.

Congrats Aubies.

Your HC is an expert on the D, and you've now brought in an innovative mind for the O.

The Bammers disparage your new OC because they HAVE TO; it is in their DNA to look down on you. The Rebs disrespect this hire because they believe(despite our experiences at Arkansas) all of Nutt's drivel. And though I am quite happy that Ole Miss has done well this season, and I have very little animosity towards Nutt, I am perplexed by some of Reb fans naivity about Nutt's history at Arkansas. They will learn in time.

Gus was a great hire, you should be happy, and in my opinion, you guys may have lucked into a very good coaching staff.
