Question: Jalen Steele, is he going to be granted a release from his letter of intent?
I know this is a basketball question, but seems like he wants out, and Billy is interested...

Somebody should let him know that the coach he originally committed to is a dope. We upgraded for him.

Can you blame him? Play basketball for Auburn or play basketball for Florida. On the surface, it seems like an upgrade for him.

However, I do think when it's all said and done this year, we will have upgraded our class as well.

If he doesn't wanna be at Auburn, adios amigo.

So you have no clue if he will be released or not? No rumors?

Not a clue. Check al.com, under AU basketball every now and then. It'll be there when a decision is made.

I think he is supposed to meet with barbee tommorow. Once he meets with Barbee if he still wants out of his LOI he will be released from it (as will any other of our signees that want out).

Well, you got Cam Newton from us.
BTW, he is a good kid. Made a bad decision that caused him some embarrassment, and a little legal trouble, but it happens. He always had a smile on his face, I was sad he left, but it was better for him to move on.

Seems like a fair trade to me. Thanks for the input on Newton, I'm always interested to hear Gator fans impressions of him.

He seems to think he can do better than Auburn. He was not very heavily recruited and then signed early and then really made some noise and turned some heads. Amazing Lebo signed a guy that someone besides Arkansas State wanted. That being said, if he wants to go, he should go and I think Barbee will let him go. I do not think, however that Barbee will sign off on a release to a conference school. Barbee seems to have a more competitive spirit than any bball coach Auburn has hired in my lifetime and I just don't see him playing nice and making another conference team better.

i think you've got the right idea righty, if after his meeting he doesn't want to be a tiger, there will be stipulations to his release and i think those will include not being able to stay in conference
