Boy this situation is identical with the time Ole Miss did the same exact thing with Brent Schaeffer. I'm expecting the same results also. Both guys played at big time SEC schools, both guys got kicked out and both guys came back to be the savior of another SEC school and both guys will be considered HUGE FLOPS!

Reading through this thread I found this gem and laughed.

Also we will have a quality backup QB that will be named and to be honest whoever is named our backup would be competing for the starting spot at many other SEC schools including LSU and UGA

Schaeffer's already considered a huge flop. Jury's still out on Newton.

Of course, you'd know this, since you're a fan of the school that really really really wanted him.

You're right. Schaeffer, 4* out of high school, 6'2" 200 lbs with a bad attitude and who wasn't even projected to be a QB at the next level is the exact same situation as 6'6" 250 lbs Cam Newton who was the heir apparent to Tim Tebow at Florida.
Just admit that you are still butthurting over Newton picking Auburn over MSU, because I guarantee you that you would not be saying Newton will be a "HUGE FLOP!" if had went to MSU.

If I were an LSU fan, I would be more concerend with my program than Auburn's.

You guys had a good run with Saban and a good run with Saban's players. What happened when Saban's players started leaving? You started going in reverse.

You guys had one of the worst multi-year stretches anybody has ever seen before Saban came to town and ....wait for it.......wait for it......IN MY OPINION, you guys are obviously getting closer and closer to those dungeon days every day that goes by without Nick Saban as your coach.

Most LSU fans have been frustrated the last couple of seasons for sure. However, we've been in two bowl games and the program is not headed in the direction it was in before Saban arrived. We will contend for the SEC west and be in a bowl game this again this year. Our recruiting couldn't be any better.

Agree to disagree.

I think you guys have always had excellent talent and have always recruited well.

I'm fully expecting a very poor season out of you guys this year and a new coach next season.

No offense, it's just my opinion.

I see us going 9-3 this season. If we get the bowl win, we'd be 10-3. That will not get Miles fired.

You won't get to 9 wins. I see at least 4 losses on your schedule and maybe 5.

I think we lose to Bama, UF, and split with Auburn and Arkansas on the road. If what you predict comes true, then there will be a hot seat for Miles here.

Interesting what you said however...would 8-4 be enough to let him go with the class you have waiting in 2011?

I think you guys will drop the bammer, florida, Auburn, and Arky games. I think you might also drop the Miss. State or Ole Miss games.

Miss. State is to be watched closely this year. They are going to get one of us when we're not watching.

8-4 with the class we have coming in will not get him fired. That is my opinion.

I think you guys can still pull a top 7 or 8 class even with a coaching change.

If it's a hot shot name, you may pull the #1 class anyway. After you lose 5 and fire Miles, you can use the "playing time" line that Saban and Chizik used the past couple years.

put up 400+ yards and scored 23 points, whoop de fricking doo. We did what was needed to keep you from scoring. Granted you had one unforced fumble on the goal line there's no certainty you would have scored either.

You guys just can't seem to stand that the gap is starting to close. Both of our teams have been down and are scrappingto climb over one another, but you guys seem oblivious to the fact that success is fluid and subject to being dammed up by others.

We've got both of these games at Tiger Stadium. It seems like we never lose to MSU(yes I know they've improved) and we will beat Ole Miss this year. I think this is a rebuilding year for Ole Miss. Auburn and Arkansas scare me, but I think we can pull off 1 road win. This will be my first trip to Jordan Hare. Win or lose, I'm looking forward to the game at Auburn.

... and a GREAT game it will be . The Auburn/LSU atmosphere (when both teams are playing well) is incredible.
