Attention people in Fayetteville...

First I realize this should be in the OT thread about the tornadoes, but I figured many more Arkansas fans read this board than that one. We are currently helping in the search for a missing HS grad from the Joplin tornadoes (yes the same story that was on the news earlier). Could anyone in/around Fayetteville tell me which hospital a trauma patient would most likely be taken to? The list is long already and anything to possibly narrow down the search would be great.

I think Washington Regional or something like that

Is Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville a Trauma Center?

Yes, but we've tried there too. This is frustrating because these places weren't tried when I made this thread, but since it's a public google doc several people are updating at the same time so sometimes by the time I get info from here, it's already been checked, but seriously thanks a ton.

This may sound dumb, but have you tried Children's hospital in Little Rock?
If the trauma was severe he would likely be sent there or possibly to Tulsa.
FWIW

It just got called and nothing. There were leads from others in Tulsa and Springfield, but they haven't lead to anything yet

I was thinking Oklahoma as well.

How many Trauma Centers does Arkansas have? I remember reading an Arkansas paper like back in 2008 where the Gov. of Arkansas was passing some bill to get more Trauma Units in the to keep from having to transport out of state to Tennessee and Oklahoma.

I couldn't tell you for sure.
There are two hospitals in Ft. Smith, Sparks and St. Edwards, OP, you may try contacting these two as well.
I believe each has a trauma center, but generally with severe trauma people tend to be transported to Childrens in LR, Tulsa, or Memphis.

That's part of the problem trying to narrow down the search... We don't know what his injuries are or how serious. We know he was alive when he was checked into the Joplin hospital and that he was then transferred somewhere. That's it. Figured since some of the places in the Fayetteville area hadn't been checked I'd ask.

Joplin being just as close to Kansas City as it is to Fayetteville, Tulsa and Springfield (basically) doesn't help narrow a search.
I'm pretty sure that one of the two in Ft. Smith now has a trauma center, I believe it is Sparks Regional Medical Center. Why he would be transferred there I would not know.

Yea, but what really doesn't help is that in the mass chaos of this tornado he literally could have been taken anywhere. We've called almost three full pages of hospitals and still nothing

Try Mercy in Rogers.

I heard today that some patients were taken there.

There's also Northwest Med Center in Springdale.
If you run out of places to check, try Sparks Regional and St. Edwards in Fort Smith.

Has UAMS in Little Rock been tried?

Yes, I think by this point we've tried everything in Fayetteville... Also, Mercy in Rogers has been tried and no luck. Thanks for everyone's help tonight

When I googled "hospitals with Joplin tornado victims", it looks as if a large proportion were being sent to the KC area. I wish I could be more helpful.
Many Oklahoma hospitals are flooded with patients as well.
