Isn't it a worthy discussion?

Yes it is.

Only a comparison I have in my mind, nothing more.

Did that on first page.

Bowl records are a tricky thing. Bear Bryant was 15-12-2. Saban is 7-4, which is pretty good.

Miles is 6-4 and Stoops is 7-6

Hell man, I figure you would read the posts on your own OP.

I did. You've changed it from 5-3 to 6-4. I pay attention.

The only people who don't already think this is 98% of the LSU fans...

I will be interested to see how LSU does in 2013 after having such an exodus, but Miles still values defense and a running game. Bob Stoops has gotten completely away from his roots.

Right, I edited and included OSU, where he was 1-1. You asked for a comparison after I already gave one. I pay attention better.

We've never won a BCS Bowl. I blame Nutt for not being more like Miles while at OSU, though.

Not really, he's having to adjust to the talent available in Texas, same as Mack.

Texas high school football has gone soft and too the spread.

Dale, you know football.

What do you think Miles' issues of late have been?

Les Miles has 10 more years of choking to go before he catches up to Bob Stoops. Mark Richt is a lot more comparable to Bob Stoops. Richt always gets owned by every elite coach (Meyer, Spurrier, Peterson, Saban) just like Stoops struggles against every good non-conference opponent.

You said I should I bow out if not making a comparison...after I already made one,...for not giving an answer, after I already gave one...then silence. Poor form man. Is this the norm? My mistake for taking part then.

You can still run the football and play defense with the talent available to him in Texas.

Miles is 3-3 against Meyer, 3-0 against Spurrier and 3-4 against Saban. I think he needs to step it up, but by and large not too bad at this point.

K, then name me a team that relies on Texas recruiting that does this.

What am I missing? Okay. Miles is a fair to spare 6-4 with one BCSNC (inherited). Many have said Stoops did the same with Blake's players (inherited). Hasn't come very close to an NC since 2001 (but did pass the 50 vs USC and FLA).

Is there something else I need to know to take Miles off of the Stoops comparison list? Should I, like Dale whispered, compare Miles instead to Brown who is less successful than Stoops?

2-2 against Petrino.

Overall Miles is mediocre against the upper echelon of coaching in the SEC, save Spurrier, but that has more to do with Carolina than Spurrier.

With 2beaz at Arkansas that trend isn't going to change. Like Mack at Texas, Miles does just enough to mask his mediocrity and convince the fan base that losing in bowls like the Chic-fil-a is acceptable, the portion of the fanbase that remembers the 90s eat this shite up.
