country? The Gulf Coast is all LSU for the most part and then Hattiesburg is USM. Is it around Jackson where those allegiances start to die?

are you referring to the whole gulf coast or just the MS gulf coast?

There are a lot more state and Ole Miss fans in South Mississippi than you think. I know that Copiah County south of Jackson is a BIG Ole Miss area and also the counties 45-60 miles south of Jackson all have big MSU and Ole Miss alumni bases.
Hattiesburg has a decent amount of MSU alums as does Laurel.
The coast also has a lot of Bama and Auburn alums/fans. Natchez and McComb MS are also big LSU areas as well.

actually I am a Mandeville High & Auburn Grad.... where someone currently lives has no bearing on their educational or intelligence level
and my reading comprehension is just fine...

good thing you're familiar with the topic then. I've noticed that all along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi (obviously) you don't see very many Rebel or westdawg fans

maybe so...but when I graduated high school FHS didn't exist (if it did I am sure I would have attended there due to where I lived in M-ville)

Are you basing this on what you see at the Casinos because there is a wide variety of fans from all over in there on the weekends.
Also, you will find more State fans in the coastal counties north of I-10. Hancock county which borders Louisiana is a big LSU area, and Jackson County that borders Alabama has a lot of Bama/Auburn fans. Harrison County which is in the middle is a big mix of fans from all 5 of the schools in the SEC west minus Arkansas.

You're going to find State/Ole Miss fans everywhere in MS (naturally), but there are certainly regions which favor certain schools.
For example, the Memphis Metropolitan Area in MS (Southaven, Olive Branch, Hernando) is a strong Ole Miss area. Northeast Jackson is strong Ole Miss. Madison and Ranking counties are (surprisingly) stronger State areas. Tupelo is a strong Ole Miss area while the rest of that chunk of MS (West Point, Columbus) is a strong State area. Meridian has a strong Bama pull (Tuscaloosa is maybe an hour from there) while the Gulf Coast and southwestern part of the state have strong LSU and USM pulls.
The Delta is mostly a bunch of people who can't finish high school, but I'd say the State/Ole Miss allegiances there are about 50/50. Anyone else know more about the Delta? I know admittedly very little about it.

Once again Ellen you are wrong. I am from HB, born and raised and there are huge OM and State alumni groups there.
Why do you think that USM can't fill up their 38,000 seat stadium when the HB area is at least over 130,000 in population? Because hardly anyone in HB gives a shite about USM football that's why.
If I had to break it down I would legitimately say that HB is 35% OM, 35% State, and 30% USM.
Furthermore, my dad lived in G-port for 5 years when I was growing up and there are plenty of OM fans on the Coast. If you are saying "the gulf coast is all LSU" bc yall signed a few players from there then fine but there are tons of coast students and alumni. Are there LSU fans on the coast? of course, hell you could go to frickin Tokyo and find a coonass. But by no means is "the gulf coast all LSU".

nah, I have family that moved from NOLA to Diamondhead/Bay St Louis and whatnot and around there neighborhood you don't see ANY stuff from Ms. schools (some USM flags and shite) but a lot of LSU things... not a flame and I realize that BR is closer than Oxford and all...

When the Ohio State/Michigan rivalry dies. fricking coaches of today have no respect.

Bay St. Louis/Diamondhead is only 10-15 miles from the Louisiana State line. So the LSU fans are a lot stronger there than over in Biloxi/Gulfport/Ocean Springs which contains most of the MS Gulf Coast's population, and as Reb Frebrees said its spread out among different schools.
Natchez and McComb are also very close to the Louisiana state line in South Mississippi and both cities have BIG LSU fan bases mainly because of their proximity to Louisiana. Just like the other guy mentioned about there being a lot of Ole Miss fans in the Memphis area.

Well, I am sure every other Mississippi Gulf Coast neighborhood mirrors Diamond Head. And jfyi Diamondhead and Bay St Louis are not the same place.
The majority of LSU fans in these areas are probably,,, from Louisiana.

Natchez has a lot of LSU and Ole Miss fans.

They have a few b/c I went to State with a few people from Natchez including the Owner of Fat Mama's Tamales son. I guess most of the Natchez area state fans live in the rural areas.
Another thing you have to look at in regards to Natchez area LSU fans they could be Vidalia/Ferriday residents who live across the River in Louisiana.
