Is A&M officially in the conference yet?

If the Tide wanted to leave tomorrow Slive and the league would say 'bye' and not miss a beat, as would be the case for any program in the conference. If one program were to leave, the one that would be most missed would be Vandy, imo. They represent what is best about the SEC.
You may have been facetious, but the answer is actually Vandy is the most important program in the SEC. Since we are invited to create our own criteria, here ya go.
Vandy is the premier academic institution and that has almost nothing to do with why it is most important. As the only private institution in the SEC, Vandy allows the conference to shield its finances from pesky disclosure laws (the hippies finally got something right). Vandy makes keeping the charade of amateurism alive much much easier so we can all continue to enjoy college football unabated by allegations of indentured servitude.
tl;dr
Terrible thread.

Why is UGA so important?
Why the frick is auburn?
Georgia is historically better at football, baseball, maybe basketball?, golf, tennis, gymnastics, and probably some other sports than auburn, not to mention we are far superior academically.
The correct answer isn't Georgia, but it DAMN sure isn't auburn.

LSU is the only SEC school with double digit championships in football, baseball, and basketball FWIW.

I can see this thread will be a case study in myopia.

LSU and Tulane.
Without them, there never would have been a Sugar Bowl.

To everyone bringing up basketball, baseball, equestrian, etc...get real
This conference is what it is due to football, You know, the sport that brings in the money to allow the other sports to operate and construct new academic buildings.
If we are including other sports then Kentucky means the second most to the conference because they are the best in the 2nd largest revenue sport

In that case the question should've been "which football program is 2nd best in the SEC", but it wasn't. It was which "PROGRAM" means most. That includes everything from academics all the way down to women's sports.
No, because they suck at all the other sports except for basketball and a random good year here or there in other sports (like currently with baseball). There are several other programs that are solid across many different sports.

And, if I'm not mistaken, LSU still has more national championships than any other school outside of the state of California.
