There's the thing... It was in September when the story comes out. ND not in the title hunt, he's barely mentioned. They had a LOT of "tough games" left on the schedule. Not sure you can really say he was trying to put himself in the heisman talk because it wasn't feasible until much later. End of the day, reasonably intelligent person has to assume that fake girl is eventually uncovered when you play for ND (NBC coverage... media darlings). So he's a liar and a dipshit or just a super gullible dipshit.
<eta> Also, not really going to improve his draft stock significantly (ie. profit) if he has poor performance in big game (MNC) or bad draft combine (we shall see?)
