I am not a lawyer, so I may not completely understand this, but here is my take.
I think the prosecution messed up with this witness. The defense, if I understand, wanted to muddy the waters and try to make this case about NCAA and paying players. The Feds did not and the judge agreed.
But this witness has now mentioned not only football, but video/recordings of that Arizona basketball coach were shown in court yesterday.
Now the defense is going to try to resubmit to get other witnesses who the judge previously denied because the prosecution introduced them.
The only way I think anything else football related comes out isis the defense is allowed to drag it in during cross examination. Again, if the goal is to try to muddy the waters as much as possible, I guess they could do that. But the judge made it pretty clear he was not going to let that happen. At least until the video/recordings were shown by the prosecution yesterday.
I still doubt this goes anywhere. But apparently, the guy will not be off the stand until Friday, so who knows what other crazy shite he will bring up?
