Bash away, but this thread only proves one thing, nobody actually has credible sources. When I was in school I knew several athletes very well and a doctor or two. Never once said I had a credible source because often times they are wrong, biased, or motivated by something. Case in point HawgAlude saying his source is a relative that got snubbed for a position.

Since every person with a credible source has a conflicting point, I guess one person will end up being right and more than likely not due to their source. It will be because of the law of probability.

I've heard that Dan Merlin's name has popped up

the only name I've read associated with the job is former Browns/UNC Coach Butch Davis.

Candidates include:

ULL- Mark Huspeth

Arky State- Gus Malzahn

Middle Tenn.- Rick Stockstill

FIU- Mario Cristobal (highly doubt it's him)

UNT- Dan Mccarney (highly doubt it's him. There are allegations he had domestic violence issues with his ex-wife.)

Troy- Larry Blakeney (doubtful, played and coached at Auburn for years)

W.Kentucky- Willie Taggert (doubtful, used to play at WKU)

I didn't name all the coaches as many don't have any experience or have bad records.

There is a rumbling on the Penn State pay site, that new coach Bill O'Brien has gave former Duke HC permission to talk to Jeff Long.

As if you'll get the chance.

And, you didn't give a mercy knee in 2010, either. Within one score, taking a knee to run out the clock is securing the win, not showing mercy.

Now, when it's 41-17, on the other hand...

Didnt someone mention something about Butch Davis earlier? I dont want to go back through a bunch of flames to look but just read this.

quote:

Arkansas: Sources with knowledge of the situation tell me that in the case that Bobby Petrino is relieved of his duties, a prominent Arkansas booster that has been closely involved with significant decisions in the past will push for Butch Davis to fill the position. Davis, who is currently serving as the special assistant to the head coach with the Tampa Bay Bucs' organization, was not tied to the NCAA penalties levied against North Carolina. I am told that Gus Malzahn would not be a candidate for the position. A source close to Davis tells me that Davis would be interested in the position.
