Long and Bobby are tight. Friends away from work. I never thought Long would be BPs problem.

Given Long's 450K salary, the safer logical play is retaining CBP over the risk of the unknown, even if CBP and Ark have future recruiting issues due to the fiasco.
Long's tenure as AD and paydays compute into Long's logic on this situation..even if just on the subconscious levels..$elf-pre$ervation.

Long's accolades are directly the result of the huge jump in revenue. The revenue jump is directly the result of Petrino.
Its not that hard to figure out what is in Long's best interests.

I've heard that Dan Merlin's name has popped up, but you can hear anything in times like this. I hope we retain BP so I hope it just "popped up" and that's all. However, nothing would surprise me much at this point.

I'm looking for upside here.
Hopefully Stephens will miscalculate and see this as an opportunity to get some more control in the AD. Maybe he will overstep and in two years War Memorial will be hosting only rodeos and tractor pulls.

Even if things head south for CBP in the near future, Long will get to choose his successor, and get to ride that call for 4 or 5 years, living or dying with it.
Long has alibis and time, either way. Whether personal friends or not, his diligence in this process shows removal of bias and allegiance, professionalism, thus provides Long some absolvement in making either call.

Well I know the first half of this is false because Kelsey was in the Fayetteville Target last Friday(4/7) afternoon, and Becky was loading up a car at the Petrino homestead the same day. Hope the second part is false also, but I see this ending badly either way

Ask yourselves why would the boosters be the problem?
The problem is the legalities and legal teams at the University of Arkansas saying policies were broken and BO must be fired. Jeff Long is an administrator and is pissed off about the situation. I do not know if JL wants to fire Bobby other than knowing that he is pissed and has made contacts with other coaches. So take that for what it is worth.
