all I'm saying is, you don't have to declare the payment until your taxes, so how could he be in violation yet. he hasn't had the opportunity to declare yet

You might as well turn someone in for offering a player a piece of Juicy Fruit.

I just heard ESPN report that Johnny signed some stuff after the Bama game (200 items or so) and his handler told the guy that next time it will cost him to get autographs. Not word for word, but that was the gist of it.

Edit: ESPN also said that the guy getting autographs had no interest in talking to the NCAA.

Honestly, it's likely nothing happens. Past precedent says the NCAA largely ignores this stuff when it comes to big programs.

From NCAA's website:

"The committee decides penalties case-by-case. Each case is unique, and applying case precedent is difficult (if not impossible) because all cases are different."

And then there's the "High profile players require high profile enforcement" comment. But that comment came from a dead guy and they only used that against USC, and never came into play again.

Bottom line, who the fvck knows.

Meh, everyone's "heard" something at this point.

Business as usual at A&M until something substantial comes forth.

I know. I was just being snarky. I don't know how that works.

Well he seems smarter than that to me, but thanks for your input.
not sure if serious. and again money changes everything for people. again, knowing something is wrong doesn't mean someone wont do it.

JM knows its illegal to consume alcohol, yet he seems to do it on a regular basis. He has done numerous stupid things

Yeah, right now it seems like a ton of he said she said, just gonna have to let it play out. I really hope he plays this year, FWIW.

I hope he does too for obvious reasons, but at this point I'm beyond sick and tired of the incessant drama around this boy. All I care about is Aggie football. If he can play, great, he obviously can help us win. If not, rule him ineligible right now so we can get on with the season. You know what I'm saying?

The marketing major in me knows you're right.

The idealistic Tbird wishes it weren't so in the case of negative publicity

Any press is not good press. See Arkansas 2012.

Has anything concrete came of this yet or is it still all just a media frenzy saying this and that?

In other words, has the NCAA made any strides towards physically linking JFF to a payment for this signatures?

I think it has less to do with intelligence and more to do with arrogance. He may cognitively know what he should and shouldn't be doing, but if he's buying into the hype, that's a pretty powerful enabler.

Chances are, the lines have been blurred for a while with regard to a lot of his behavior, and it's a combination of him being under more of a microscope mixed with getting away with stuff he probably shouldn't have. It creates a false sense of security and untouchability.

I was being serious. And it's true, you really can't under/over estimate anyone. Especially upstanding people like anonymous sources and sports memorabilia brokers. I just tend to question motives...

Your guess is as good as mine or anyone else's at this point, tigger.

Have some in the meantime

when was the supposed payment? this year? he wouldn't have to report it until next year, correct?

It happened on Jan 6, 2013. The Patriot Act ledgers/CTR's are to be reviewed and reported every 30 days. So this should have been acted upon back in February by this broker's CPA, unless it was never recorded, which means it's in direct violation of the Patriot Act.

Good mindset. I think ultimately this is good for the Aggie fanbase to jump off the JFF train and get on the A&M train completely. JFF brought you to the table, but A&M has to keep you there year after year.

Then its just a media shite storm. I hate the talk talk talk, speculation speculation to infinity. Its pointless and just creates so much more false information out there in the public because people run with everything whether it has clout or not.
