OK. Just curious. I have a family member involved with a San Antonio area high school that played Tivy while he was there. She brings up this incident all the time when she's ripping Manziel about his character (She's a Longhorn fan, btw). Her story always includes,"Well, I was told...", or "Somebody told me...". No doubt, he definitely did have some baggage before he hit the A&M campus.

Nobody fell up the stairs and died because of ATPB. I think that was during bammer's probation.
That was Logan Young that fell up the stairs regarding the Albert means fiasco. E dead bodies I'm talking about were in Atlanta I believe and possibly one somewhere on the east coast that someone somehow tied into the whole thing in some sort of convoluted fashion.
This thread needs a flow chart IMO.

Yes, everything I read points to JFF's dad being "father of the year"! I can play that too..."he really, really wanted the Benz..."
I'm looking for the references to the Walmart incident and I just read that JFF's dad busted into the police station and threatened to sue EVERYONE which led to the cover-up.
Your aggie arguments are starting to sound as ridiculous as this old line from the past..."If the glove don't fit...you must acquit".

I haven't kept up with this story since the initial breaking. How is it looking for Manziel? Better? Worse? Any new evidence?
No new evidence. Looking better as the "evidence" that everyone was salivating over for the first couple days seems increasingly weak. NCAA is having to backpedal after their own profiting from players is coming to light.
Other SEC fans are now going through the anger stage of grief claiming that JFH has completely ruined college football and alienated his entire team (despite all the teammate statements of support that everyone keeps posting, but who's worried about facts at a time like this?).

Y'all don't really believe you have any idea what evidence the NCAA has or how far along the investigation is, right??
Maybe the NCAA should hand this one over to Aggie fans, they seem to be one step ahead.

Ohio and virginia if i recall correctly. Not sure how, but someone cracked the code and made it an ATPB issue.

Paco...
I do have a neighbor who's daughter is quite the hotty and is a Jr at aTm. I was at their house drinking beer by the pool one day and she started talking about JFF and his partying. Her dad went inside and I asked her if his partying was just drinking partying or hard core drug inclusive partying. She said that (before he hit the big time), he was well known for his "party habits" but stopped hanging with the aTm kids when he started getting "so famous".
I mentioned her looks because I can tell you that it wouldn't be hard to believe that she would be running in the same circles when he was a normal aTm FB player. JFF posting the bong pics is pretty telling too. Again, the more you look the worse he looks.

Sometimes Manziel had too much fun, skipping class and sweet-talking his way out of trouble. His father made him a deal: he would buy Manziel a new car if he stayed away from alcohol during his junior and senior years in high school. One summer night, Manziel went to Wal-Mart to buy a phone charger, the security guard smelled alcohol and the police were called. Manziel denied he had been drinking but was taken to jail. The next day, his father picked him up, sold the car and replaced it with a busted pickup truck that would repeatedly break down on the way to school. He refused to pay the fine for his son, and when the judge sentenced Manziel to 10 hours of community service, John Paul said: Make it 20.
Interesting, then, that he turned around and bought him the Mercedes after all the publicity about his partying. He's stil not 21.

This is thread is full of serious butthurt from people who really wan to pile on JFF with a bunch of hearsay. Why? because they believe Johnny has ruined college football? Get a grip, people.

Yeah, my feelings about JFF have been that he would someday self-destruct and do it in a big way. Not sure this is the moment that will take him down. Maybe it's just BAS (Battered Aggie Syndrome), but the higher ups at A&M need to think through how they handle this very carefully or it could blow up in their faces as well and leave some lasting damage on the institution as a whole (I know a lot of fellow Aggies don't see this, just my opinion).

meh- i just think he's an arrogant little prick- which i think most everyone would agree with at this point besides maybe his mother.
and if he took money i do hope he gets in trouble - rules are rules and no one should be above them regardless of their own feeling of superiority.

I wish he'd have just laid back and been cool about his success, not been the epitome of a spoiled rotten/priviledged brat. I love watching the kid play football, period. I never had a problem with his jet setting activities earlier in the year, mainly because I was jealous and wished I was young enough, rich enough, and talented to get away with it like he did.
Honestly, until I read that ESPNMag article by Wright Thompson last week, I had no opinion whatsoever about JFF or his family. That article put a spotlight on the immaturity of his dad, and it really showed what a disrespectful prick JM is to his own family and others around him. Add in the Uncle Nate bullshite and it leaves a lot of former supporters not giving a crap what happens to the brat.
Strictly from a college football perspective, I want to see this kid play ball. Hell, I've spent a lot of freakin money to take my family to College Station next month and I want the rockstar slinging the rock around.

PF being interviewed today said that based on things he is hearing that it is going to be a lot worse news coming out before the season starts and he looks for JFF to be suspended 4-6 weeks. PF now is an insider at ESPN so I would think his opinion would be a little higher then all the ones on this site.

The funniest thing to me about the whole thing is now A&M is truly a part of the SEC. You can forget all that honor code stuff and how once an Aggy always an Aggy, because Little Johnny coulnd't care less about his team and A&M. He is only out for himself, and A&M only wants the wins, so they will play him regardless of his actions. I'm not saying that this is wrong and not what Coach Saban would do also, but we don't try to hide behind some glorified honor code. Everybody knows we just want the wins and the championships, and we say that's what we want.
Win at all Cost, or as Auburn fans would say"ALL IN".

quote:PF is full of shite, always has been, always will be IMO. PF & Vampire Sheridan damaged any credibility they had about their "sources" and "things they were hearing from insiders" back in the Newton saga. Every media dimwit had egg on their faces from that fiasco that amounted to zilch/zero/nada. All the rumors, innuendo, rumblings, secret sources, NCAA insider sources, were all debunked.

weren't debunked in the slightest. i'm not getting into how stupid you sound saying a person didn't do (getting money from auburn) what he had already done (asking for money from miss. st.), but you're opinion that an investigation closing = innocence isn't credible either.

Up front, Finebaum is a troll and it wouldn't surprise me if he was getting his 'insider info' from the rant.
Having said that, just for the sake of fun would JFF accept a suspension for half the season and come back as the returning hero or would he simply say screw y'all, see you at the NFL draft?
