Whats the Rant record?
Lets break the shite out of it and give Klarvin the boner he'll never forget.
The number of visitors to TexAgs has been floating above 25k today. No wonder the economy sucks.

It is already an un-level playing field. You think Rice will ever win a championship?
Rice could benefit from paying players because they have a big endowment and a lot of rich alumns.
It's schools like UTEP and Arkansas State that would be affected.
But make paying players legal and it will explode beyond anything you have imagined. It will be more than just "pay such and such player".

How big did ATPB end up?
1800 to 2000 pages before it was locked. I think. That doesnt' count the die hards who created spin off threads after it was locked.

its just the perception of college athletics that makes it appealing...the passion of players playing a game they love and not getting paid. I agree it is essentially a minor league system but fans view it differently especially down south. And I also agree that players are getting paid under the table

Paying players is stupid.
That is like saying its not fair that the CEO makes 10 million a year and the intern gets college credit. That internship is going to ultimately pay dividends in the future. These kids get all the advantages in the world, plus a free education. If you want to get paid, go to work. If you want a free education, and want noteriety and advantages that most people don't get in college, then play college football.
Entitlement. Its what is wrong with America. You aren't entitled to shite.

Paying players is not progress, would set NCAA football/basketball back
I agree.
+1
If you package the benefits they receive - tuition, room, board, workout facilities, tutors, healthcare, private cafeteria, etc - they're getting paid pretty well. If you add any monetary compensation to this package, it has to be limited and capped across the board. And any violations would have to be dealt with very harshly. Otherwise, you have more corruption that the system can handle. And you lose what makes college football unique.

Fans wouldn't act any different if the NCAA tomorrow allowed paying players.

You say that as if the system isn't already handling gigantic masses of it right now.

I agree numbers wouldn't go down but perception would definitely change.

Sure the perception would change, but that's about all that would from the fan perspective.

How many internships can you get that will pay for your college, books, insurance, food, housing, will put you on television, will provide you with a top notch personal trainer, nutritionist, state of the art healthcare equipment, and give you a platform to possibly making millions right out of college?

I would distance the school from this guy at this point.

meanwhile A&M is building a $500 million stadium.
a year to year scholarship is totally fair compensation for that?

Depends on when they "found out". If it was after the Cotton Bowl, it doesn't matter. They didn't play an ineligible player. Even if they knew before, that's all they did. It's not like they were paying his HS coach 250k to send him to College Station.

I still think Manziel gets a 4 game suspension and pay back the money. He'll be back in time for A&M to beat Arkansas.
