Didn't he hired a former head coach to be the OC that had a shady past?

McMurphy (the reporter that broke this) says he has much more damning info. from the wife on tOSU but he isn't going to report it. My guess is that's a warning shot to the Admin telling them that Urbz needs to resign now.

Interesting. Seems odd to put up a hit piece and not lead with some of your best content. I guess that's unless his target is less Urbz and more tOSU in general? Trying to bait them into doing something stupid... but if that's the case, why tell them?

Try harder, don’t know what to tell you.

McMurphy is also unemployed at this point.

Lead with a teaser, shop the juicy bits around for a book deal.

I'm not really sure. She may have asked him not to report on certain things unless it gets to a certain point. Who knows.

Not sure if I'm a fan of reporters manipulating people like that. Doesn't that get a little close to blackmail? I think their job is to collect information and report on it honestly for the public/proper authorities to do with it what they will. Not to use it for any kind of personal agenda even if it is something most would considered "justified".

The ONLY reasons why McMurphy would continue to sit on damning info is for maximum exposure for himself and future articles. He literally has zero fricks to give about whether or not the tOSU admin "does the right thing".

I wonder if he’s holding a smoking gun and waiting to see if Meyer tries to escape it.

Or in other words, you can't substantiate your claims with factual evidence?

As I said, I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but for you to have such a strong position, one would expect that you've actually read or seen something to give you that impression.

The cynic in me sort of looked at it like this. He's not reporting on this story out of altruistic concern. I'd like to think otherwise, but it's highly unlikely.

So he's freelancing and posting on facebook which would mean he's doing this as sort of an "interview" to get back to being employed by someone then?

Welcome to 2018 and the death of the "journalist" (which likely happened at least 10 years prior). Most "news" pieces not put out by the AP or Reuters are in some way shape or form an "op/ed" piece these days. Very little is constructed in a way to simply present a evidence. It's a view point and things are often left out in order to highlight that view point. It is what it is. Sometimes the general story doesn't change much, sometimes it does. In this case, it would seem that the nuts and bolts are pretty clear regardless of the POV.

IDK, reporters witheld evidence and wouldn't talk to the NCAA when it involved player eligibility a few years ago. It could be something like that. It could also be a cynical play by the reporter.

Someone in the thread claimed that he has a non-compete right now and that he likely has a job waiting whenever that runs out (as he's currently still being paid by ESPN), but I don't know the degree of accuracy.

In any case, breaking big stories increases his recognition, and ultimately improves his "brand" and subsequent value to future employers.
