If I was the Arkansas Athletics Dictator, here's what I would do:

Tear down WMS. Replace it with 70-80k stadium (maybe LR could get a small bowl game ). Move all home games except for one SEC game per year to RRS. The home game in LR would be LSU one year, and an alternating opponent the next.

I don't think they would have to tear it down and start over. I think an upper deck could be added, not sure.

BTW: WMS had a bowl game at one time, the Aluminum Bowl.

Or arkansas could just build a bunch of stadiums in different corners of the state, one for each home SEC game.

You have your dumb tradition involving cow bells.

We have our rich tradition of over 60 years of playing games in LR.

We will get rid of our tradition when you voluntarily get rid of yours...

Why this? Does Arkansas have a good deal of bauxite?

Yes, even a town named after it near LR.

Didn't know that. If they could get a bowl game there again, the extra revenue it would generate would probably pay for the stadium expansion/rebuilding.

I'd rather we didn't have donors splitting money trying to maintain and improve two stadiums at once when the entire conference is in an arms race.

You'd be fired before you reached year 2. You have no idea the amount of cost you are talking about to get one SEC game somewhere between Russellville and Little Rock, ha ha.

It's only a matter of time. WMS contract is up in 2016.

Massive population shift from southern and eastern Arkansas to Central and NWA.

NWA 450,000 people.
Central 650,000 People.

The shift continues. Plus, who wants to live in soy bean/cotton/rice country when you can live in the hills and it's the coolest (temp) part of Arkansas (Hills).

In 2008, the contract with War Memorial Stadium was extended through the 2016 football season by athletic director Jeff Long. Two games a year in LR, one of them a conference game. Warren Stephens threatened to drop support if all games were moved to Fayetteville. All about money...

Because half the state has always been arse backwards when it comes to forward thinking in business. It's a damn shame!

They wonder why future white collar working kids take jobs in Dallas, Memphis, New York, Los Angeles etc.

Little Rock won't even put the money up to upkeep WMS properly, yet a portion of that state things they will add 20,000 seats...

Good luck with that business plan! There aren't enough Alan Jackson concerts to keep that business model afloat.

Soy bean/cotton/rice farmers...

Which makes up 0.035% of the fan base.

Lets market/cater to those guys... :rolls eyes:

This is the attitude that causes a lot of the divide between hog fans. NWA and Central Arkansas/LR have never got along, and never will.

if the program can stay competitive through 2016 we'll be raking in enough money to make stephens irrelevant

Yes, but we were scheduled to play 3 games a year again there starting this season or next. What Long did was add a couple years to the contract and keep it at 2 games a year..

Easy there, the last time he got pissed at the flagship, UALR received a new basketball arena...
