That thread has multiple (from all accounts looks like normal folks) talking about losing their seats because they won't be able to make a $40,000 donation to keep them in that area.
I don't think it's unreasonable to call out Arkansas admin if they're trying to make the move to shift long-time season ticket holders to make way for higher paying donors/corporations who can pay the 40k fee.
And as a fan of a school that has done that with KFund for a long, long time, I hate to see arenas with really good atmospheres because they don't do that suffer. Having the "regular" fans even down around the court makes a big difference in atmosphere.
Most Kentucky fans will tell you while Rupp can very much get loud and rowdy, it suffers from having fans in the lowers who are really just big money donors (who often don't even come to all of the games).

forty K is a ridiculous sum, I agree, and also based on my experience, I'm going to guess you're not getting the whole story
not even close

I have a friend that's had tickets for 30 years. He bailed on the 40k donation

What do you think the whole story is?
Plenty of other big basketball programs have done similar. They did a little bit of this in Rupp with the renovations not long ago.
I knew several people who ended up not renewing their Louisville season tickets when they moved from Freedom Hall to Yum because they were moved back quite a bit from their previous seating area to accommodate corportations/boosters but wanted more money for the seats.

"thanks you HY" is a dead giveaway
our fans have been crying wolf on that ever since HY got here
they even blame him for hiring Chad Morris, but they know good and well Jerry Jones pulled the trigger on Chad Morris. We didn't even have an AD when Chad Morris was hired.

The answer is in your post. The boosters you talk about being part of the problem are cult leaders who make sure all the propaganda is put to blame on the AD

Is your AD not the one who created the new re-seating policy?
I did a quick Google just out of curiosity, it looks like it's been implemented under him for 25-26.
Men's BB Reseating Policy
So they created a new $40,000 membership level that it sounds like will get first priority on choosing their seating for next season:
quote:
How it will work
All Men's Basketball season ticket holders and Razorback Foundation members who complete the Season Ticket Request form by the June 30 deadline will receive an appointment time.
Season Ticket Request form will be emailed to all Razorback Foundation members and Men's Basketball season ticket holders on April 1. If you do not complete the Season Ticket Request form, you will NOT receive an appointment time and therefore will not be eligible to purchase Men’s Basketball season tickets.
Appointment times are determined by Razorback Foundation membership level and priority points within your level, beginning with Broyles-Matthews Diamond members.
Appointment times will be emailed in July
Selection will begin in early August
Unlike in previous years, sections will NOT have pre-determined donation levels.
Giving at a specific membership level determines your appointment time.
You will be able to select from all available inventory at your Seating and Parking appointment time.

I've had them at Mizzou for that long...and they should have to pay me!
Funny it only goes one way despite winning or losing. Kind of like Super Bowl attendees...made up of mostly wealthy non football fans.

we've already had people complaining for years that the "blue hairs" you describe don't come to games
so this complaining about the January 2025 announcement is bogus
also, same type people who sit and are too quiet, it's old hat already

perfect example of how our boosters and media operate...
if something is not popular, the AD did it
but if it IS popular, then "the boosters made it happen" - case in point when John Tyson sat there in the Calipari announcement and shook his head when Yurachek didn't give him one thousand percent credit on the Calipari hire.
our media makes up lies to cover for boosters and BOT, have been doing it for years, and our used car dealer fan base has been drinking it up for decades

Who would have created the new reseating policy if it wasn't the Athletic Director?
Posted on 3/9/25 at 4:52 pm to BluegrassBelle
Arkansas media guy Mike Irwin has been saying for years that college football and basketball will begin moving to the NFL and NBA trend of lower seating capacity and high luxury...
then watch, he'll be the first one to complain about it because his booster buddies think they can use it to fire the AD (the guy who THEY pull the rug out from under on every fricking coaching hire)
our boosters and BOT have been declaring war on every AD since Frank Broyles was gone. They declare war on day one. And our sheep fanbase follow them around like lapdogs.

You said yourself, all the other P5's are doing the same thing, same trend, lower seating, higher luxury, so why is Arkansas and our AD the bad guy?

Other Diamond level benefits will include retention of existing parking passes; the opportunity to have two parking passes in the same lot for football, men’s basketball and baseball games; the ability to purchase up to four courtside seats for men’s basketball games; and the ability to purchase up to 20 football tickets.
Previously Broyles-Matthews Platinum was the highest donor level at $20,000 or more per year. Now Platinum status is for annual donations between $20,000 and $39,999.
There is also a Broyles-Matthews Gold status for donations between $10,000 and $19,999, and Broyles-Matthews Silver status for donations between $5,000 and $9,999.
According to the Razorback Foundation website there are 11 donor statuses beginning with an annual $35 fee for young alumni.

I'm grateful that my undergrad was at a D2. D2 sports are a lot like things used to be at D1, just on a smaller scale.

the aura around this entire general topic is why I'm banned on the Arkansas board

Not all of them. This is one of the things I give programs like Duke, Kansas, Auburn, credit for at the end of the day. They keep large groups of students and non-high paying boosters around the floor for maximum crowd effect.
I think any program that pushes to create something closer to an NBA arena is doing a massive disservice to college basketball atmosphere. When they renovated Rupp, I hoped they would have more luxury boxes to open up more lower level seating for the common fan. No dice.
This year they decided to change the Blue/White scrimmage (a well attended event for Kentucky fans) to a "highest booster" type deal through Clue Blue with some tickets as high as $1200 a seat. It's fricking atrocious.

well our Arkansas blue hairs have already been mucking up the atmosphere for years, so again, there is nothing new with this new January 2025 thing
also, I'm trying to read everything I can on the numbers, and of course the media is not telling how much of an increase it was to $40K
Have these poor folks been giving $30K for "32 years" but now they're going to have to become potato farmers at $40K?

it was a fun discussion
as I move into retirement, I'm going to fight the urge to become a part of this mess. Might even continue to take pleasure in walking up those heart attack hill stadium columns to get to the poor section, and healthier for it

Well part of the reseating is going to have students wrapped around the whole court.
