These fan bases do not like one another. It was heated in '71 when they played in the Liberty Bowl, got going again in the Stoerner fumble game and now Vitello has taken it to a new level.
I think Arkansas would rather beat Tennessee than anyone outside of Texas.

Texas is an afterthought. The real problems in old swc was TCU, SMU, Baylor. They had zero attendance but would turn you in to NCAA in a heartbeat. Every team but rice and hogs were on some kind of investigation when hogs left

Texas am was on probation for over 6 years then. SMU got death penalty 5 years earlier. Everybody was at each other's throats. It wasn't Texas. In 1978 hogs played Oklahoma in Orange bowl for possible nc. Beat crap outta them. Asked the swc for 100,000 travel money. Everybody but Texas said no. Money was real back then
