It's their thing on here. Suck on the field? Lose annually to Arkansas? Talk shite to them about potential.

Suck at recruiting? Can't get over the hump? New guy threatens to bump you down a rung or two? Talk shite about how they will suck in the future based on the 1960s.

BTW, Congrats on your Rivals/Scout/247/ESPN Championships. Really. Quick question though. How long will you guys continue to value these victories over victories on Saturday? Just seems that you guys are bragging about rankings given out by people who aren't as good at evaluating players as college coaches while Arkansas is bragging about finishing in the top 5 of rankings based on on-field results while playing in the SEC West and beating the powerhouse of potential along the way.

You actually think that moving into a tougher conference will magically make you better.
It is not magical. We have always had a lot of potential, but a crappy brand and good ole boys held us back.
With this SEC move we get to use (rape) the SEC brand to boost ours, and we have already committed to new SEC-experienced leadership in our AD.
Combine that with a willingness from the SEC office to help boost our brand (as Texas/we are the biggest future gold mine in the SEC territory) and a higher level of exposure than we ever had in the Big 12 and yes I do see a recruiting boost and I expect it to continue.
quote:
If you're banking on recruits coming to A&M just because they're in the Sec now, prepare to lose a lot of talent to Lsu and Bama.
If all they care about is playing in the Sec then why not go to a proven power, instead of a school that only boasts about having potential.
I expect that we will lose recruits to Bama, LSU and even Texas in the future. But you are missing the bigger trend.
The state of Texas has enough talent in it that we can be third to the trough and still sign Top 15 classes.
Texas will take their 25, and Bama/LSU will take a few but not whole classes as you imply because they already have a solid recruiting base.
As long as the SEC boost allows us to get first pickings 3 out of 4 times against OU, OSU, Tech, Baylor, Mizzou, Arky, Nebraska, etc. we will still have enough talent to win a championship and more talent than we had in the Big 12 when we often lost recruits to those programs.
What really killed this program's heart- its Wrecking Crew- in the last decade is the second-to-best defensive talent in the state going to OU. It made them a regular national contender and left us with only good offensive talent which isn't enough for a championship team. This offseason we have finally beat them in head-to-heads for defensive players because of the SEC, which is a trend they can't stop unless they join the SEC.
The real losers in the A&M to SEC move are all the non-SEC teams not named Texas that depend on Texas talent to compete. If this offseason shows a trend we will have the talent to mix it up in the SEC eventually.

The best we can say is that we are a top 25 program all time, with multiple SWC championships, Won the SEC West 3 times, been to a BCS game and have owned aTm from the get-go... The Aggs keep bringing up coaching, but look at what we had prior to Petrino. You guys just need to quit making excuses
Had you been in SEC all those years instead of SWC,you would have zero championships. Those SWC titles didn't mean much in bowl games.Arky has history one of the weakest non conference schedules in college football. Please list all of Hogs big wins in your SWC years.

exactly. It's not like aTm is in a state full of shitty talent or hasn't had the money to bring in great coaches over the years. They were not able to do shite in the Big 12....that of course translates to SUCCESS in the SEC in the eyes of LSU fans.
A&M won something like 6 of the last 9 SWC Championships, 3 Big 12 South Division Championships and a Big 12 Championship.
Arky fans sure do look scared to have such a "non-threat" join the conference.
Now get off your sister and get your shine box!

Dude, we're not scared. We beat A&M on the reg. Always have, always will.
We're just clueless as to why A&M gets such respect from the SEC in general.
Its weird watching Bama and LSU fans talk about A&M like they are Texas, when they are, in reality, more like Mississippi State.

I think the real problem is that Arky hates the same thing all those Big 12 teams hated when WE got the SEC invite- that we have so much potential that even with historical failure our future is brighter and our worth is greater.
You need to shake that Big 12/Texas mentality. I can't speak for anyone but myself but I want to see A&M make the best of their potential. It only makes the conference stronger and we've never been afraid of tough competition. This statement does reflect, however, a lot about the attitude of fans from remaining SWC teams (including A&M) in regard to our departure.

UT has seen NU, CU, A&M and Mizzou go, knows full well OU would go if they could...and seen all this replaced by a city school and West Virginny. The last laugh is on them.

Check out our 1968 season. What bowl game did we play that year? Check out LSU and other SEC teams during that time period. They played 4-6 conference games. LSU played 4 OOC SWC games, 3 other OOC games, and 4 SEC games (Miss. State., Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Alabama) All SWC teams played EVERY SWC team every year.

Arkansas-1968
LSU-1968
SEC teams were good but not much better overall than teams in the SWC and would many times play one another in bowl games to ensure SEC wins.
BTW, Arkansas finished tied for first place with Texas (who lost to Texas Tech and tied Houston their first 2 games) in the SWC in 1968, otherwise we would have played in the Cotton Bowl.
You're not well informed. Are you an Arkansas State fan?

Count me as one who wanted to go with Arkansas to the SEC when they bolted and again instead of the Big 12. Glad to be in the SEC and I like the civility and mutual respect. Good people and good schools with rabid fan bases. Good stuff!

Sure not everyone there is an Aggie fan, but that doesn't matter. They will tune in to the game hoping that we lose too.

aTm could have success in the SEC. I just don't understand why they didn't have more in the Big 12 the last decade. When you look at recruiting base along with facilities. I don't see why the couldn't consistently be #3 in the west behind Alabama and LSU.
Their names are Dennis Franchione and Mike Sherman.

Talent + coaching = winning
We've all acknowledged the talent is there for A&M -- and they will continue to have that advantage over Arkansas; that will never change.
So the reason for our decade of futility is pretty obvious at this point. Nevertheless, you're trying to reframe the issue of reality as a matter of "excuses."

It's because the collective minds of Arky are myopic -- a trait clearly not shared by those who do no look through the same narrow, jaded lens.
There's a reason you're alone in this -- and no, it's not because you "know us." We haven't shared a conference together in 20 years; and our three bouts at Jerryworld do not grant you superior foresight with regard to A&M's future, either.
Arky's vendetta against A&M is driven only by fear. That's it.
