They are big, athletic, and there are plenty of them. However, like others have said, they have been far from dominant in the first two weeks of the season. Petrino is a famous sandbagger in these early season scrimmages though so we'll see.

Sounds like all these 3 star guys are beasts now that they are in college. Is Bobby just a good at finding talent or does his program make these guys a lot better?

Petrino has a better staff. Our defense is more physical. I'd chalk it up to the staff that has been put in place.

Both. Bobby made it a point to beef up the D-Line, something Nutt never thought was important. Also, our strength and conditioning coach is badass now.

I am willing to put my neck out and say this is the best rotation of DT's Arkansas has had since we joined the SEC in 1992.

Having said that, watch us give up 400 yds rushing to Bama with our 5-2 defense.

Gotta slow down on the responses guys, can't have an "Arky" thread more than a couple of pages.

Big, fast, and deep. Schemes have been pretty vanilla so far and third teamers some guys not even on the depth chart have played pretty much the entire second half in both games so far, so it is hard to get a good read on exactly how well they are putting that talent and depth into practice.

So, I guess we'll have a better idea how things are going so far after the Bama game.

Here they are when they were coming out of high school. These are the ones I found anyway

Stadther: 4.9
Chris Smith: 4.7
DD Jones: 4.9
Byran Jones: 5.1
Robert Thomas: 5.2
Jake Bequette: 4.9
Tank Wright: 4.7

I don't believe some of those. I'd like to see them run.

Thin at DB but we have one of the best safety's in college football patrolling back there. Our new LB Highsmith is the real deal. First two games the kid has been unblockable and all over the field. Defensive line should be our strongest position. We have some big ole boys lining up down there this year.

Can't wait for the game. Should be a great one. Too bad my sister is getting married that day at 1:00pm! But it is in Vegas...so it should be fun too.

a few things: some is obvious homer-ism, fans of every team thinks their line/respective pretty good units are "beasts". BUT the DL is definitely deeper and bigger than ever before. as said, two are 4-stars, though our supposedly best DE (Bequette) was a lightly recruited 3-star who matured a lot after high school.

They call it the Eagle package. 5 guys on the line with the ends standing up acting as outside linebackers. It's supposed to be a run stopping defense.
