I read the book 40 minutes of hell the Nolan Richardson story. Nolan was just outside Broyles office and Hatfield came out of the office very frustrated. He had some plays written on some papers and gave it to Nolan. He looked it over and crumbled the paper and threw it in the trash. He said that is what I think of Frank Broyles.

He wasn't Danny Ford and he didn't fit in at Clemson.

Maddox Bay isn't far from Indian Bay where my uncle used to own a bait shop and cabins.

Do you know of an individual with the nickname of Cotton that lived in Indian Bay?

Arkansas was already headed to the SEC and perhaps Ken knew Arkansas would have trouble competing and, with the friction with Broyles, bolted for Clemson.
Hatfield left in 1989, Arkansas joined the sec in 1991. The hiring of Crowe was a knee jerk reaction by Broyles which he regretted.
Nothing about joining the sec had anything to do with Hatfield. Post a link if you have facts.

Arkansas hired Hatfield instead of Jimmy Johnson. Part of the ambivalence about Hatfield is remorse about the one that got away, Jimmy Johnson. But Arkansas is really good at hiring the wrong guy.

Jimmy Johnson would have put Arkansas on severe probation back in a time when the NCAA did it's job.

Just chiming in to say I love these threads.
And what was the deal with Bama brass meddling with Stallings that caused his resignation?

Not that I remember. Dad and all of his Brothers have since passed. One of my cousins may have, I can ask ... a couple are still alive.

There is no remorse about Jimmy. Larry Lacewell told him if he wanted to have success he needed to go to Miami. Johnson was never offered the job. He made the right choice.
This really seems to bother you. Why?

He was my great uncle that passed away in 2003 that owned a bait shop, a boat dock and several cabins.
He was related to my other uncle that was a friend of Hatfield before he passed away.

Maybe, but it’s this kind of thinking that keeps Arkansas football, well, Arkansas football. Same reason they didn’t go after Kiffin in 2017. And ended up with Morris and Pittman.

Hatfield was offered the job, then afterwards Arkansas wasted Jimmy’s time to bring him in for a fake interview. Then Jimmy hung 51-7 on Arkansas at home. So I would say Arkansas should have offered Jimmy the job.
And Lacewell’s comments were about whether Jimmy should leave Oklahoma State. Not which job he should take. Jimmy has been very clear in his public comments that he wanted the Arkansas job and Arkansas shanked it on several occasions.

What team do you affiliate with? You seem to be a wealth of incorrect information.
