Johnelle was facing bankruptcy, there was no way he was going to turn down the pay increase. However, there had to be much better options that were interested, on a short-term or long-term basis

And welcome to your completely unsubstantiated defense of the hire, courtesy of Jeff Long.

We'll never know if anyone else was interested in April.

Hindsight is 20/20.

He was the only previous head coach on the staff and the team needed smiles. In theory it makes sense plus he coached with or against our defensive staff in the B1G.

It backfired as this teams needs a dickhead coach. Paul Petrino, who isn't any good, should just been promoted.

The best thing to do would have been to promote an assistant. Long knew JLS was in bankruptcy. It was stupid to bring in someone that would bring attention to the program for anything other than football, especially after the turmoil this team had already been through. Not to mention, there are enough clips of the jack arse on YouTube to show what an embarrassment he would be if things didn't go we'll.

I could logic out the hiring of him. The other choices didn't make as much logical sense. Could they have worked out better? Absolutely. Was there a choice that made this much sense last spring when we were looking around? not really. The idea was let the assistants (no one knew they were all retard puppets of petrinos) do their job and it will all work out with JLS giving motivational speeches and keeping our special teams as good as they have been...

And JLS doesn't? The team would still suck, but at least the PCs wouldn't be an embarrassment and the head coaches bankruptcy wouldn't have been plastered all over the front page of Yahoo and ESPN

hindsight is 20/20.

for all we know hiring one of the assistants would make them more incompetent bc they also have to handle head coaching duties.

I dont really blame Long. It certainly appeared to be the best possible solution to a bad problem at the time.

I'm not mad at him either, Petrino put him in a terrible position. Didn't really care for his vote of confidence last week for John L but whatever.

kind of had to be done. Hogville is circling the wagons to crucify a guy who made a hire they all loved until it went bad. They act like they called this before the season started but in all reality everyone thought we'd get through this season respectably and be fine.
