tFlagship is never stopping.

Anthony Black

Still won't pass Duke for #1, but this puts us pretty firmly at the #2 spot.

Duke had 5 stars at every position Saturday night. We didn't play that badly, they just dominated and hit everything they shot. Shot nearly 60% from the field if I am remembering correctly.

I can't wait to see what Muss can do with similar talent.

And Duke just rolls in other 4+ and 5 stars to rest the 5 star starters....its sick.

Do what you gotta do to get back to that Elite 8.

Yeah. Exactly.

I know it's a homer take, but I believe Duke wins the natty this year. We played our guts out and they just bulldozed us anyway. It could have been closer with better execution on our part, but 9 times out of 10 that Duke team beats us.

Don't think it is at all. Since the 2nd half tipped against Michigan State they've been playing at an absolute elite level. They've both shown toughness (Texas Tech after getting punched in the mouth early) and an absolutely sky high offensive ceiling (2nd half TT, whole Arkansas game). I thought Arkansas played a fantastic first half on both ends of the floor and they were down 12 frickin points. They battled for 10 minutes in the 2nd half but eventually the weight of Duke's shot making just kind of wore them down and bad shots and miscues started coming in bunches.

That UNC game will just be an absolute mental strainer, though. The amount of monumental, historical things attached to that game would make even the most mentally tough players have a little bit of pause. Will be really interesting to see how that game plays out.

Since Jeremy Roach took over at PG Duke has looked unstoppable. They have have tenacity, guts, toughness, and skill. Looks like a successful swan song for Corch K.

We lost by nine. We lost last year's Elite Eight by nine to the eventual NC. Wouldn't that just be poetic?

But last year, I'm pretty sure Baylor's nine point victory against us was actually the closest anyone played them all tournament. That's not true with Duke.

Yep - they've been so damned impressive the last 2.5 games.

That's funny coming from an LSU basketball fan. Muss has made back to back Elite 8's with a bunch of 3* and 4*, and our leading scorer had no stars out of high school.

Just imagine what he'll do with actual real talent.

Have to see if the new coach can get the best out of them like coach K did.

Hard to believe they're still stacking 5-star talent like cordwood with Corch K leaving....the Duke funding machine clearly not retiring with K.

I was told by some TN and Auburn posters that regular season success was more important for recruiting.
They didn’t see that we had the #2 class and Muss credited it to last years run. He said after the Sweet 16 his phone was blowing up from recruits.

If we flip Black it will be because we have one of the best coaches in college basketball but also because of another deep run in March

We signed an elite class this year with 2 McDonald's All-Americans + another Top 50 player and a top JuCo big and everybody said our tournament run last year was embarrassing

Alabama making a sweet 16 last year was big for their program.

Auburn has only done it once under Pearl. TN has only done it once under Barnes and those two coaches have been at their schools 7+ years

Getting the talent doesn't always mean better results. I think Muss can get them to play together but there are a lot of egos coming in to manage. Oats/Muss both have their work cut out for them on that front next year. Cal is a good example that stars aren't everything.

think weve seen that first hand with how the last 2 arkansas teams have started the season. transfers that were big dogs at their old schools had to get punched in the mouth a few times before buying in to the defensive philosophy

Yep. We will probably have another year of some early conference struggles before they get it figured out. Ceiling is higher than before now though. I hope we look good in Maui. That field is freakin loaded. Lots of chances for resume building that will help us in seeding.

Duke is better than Baylor last year. Arkansas and Baylor were similar in talent but they got extremely hot at the three point, shooting over 50 percent and of course Arkansas making dumb turnovers did them in.
