If anyone can do it at UAB, Garrick can. He also sports a rockin' mustache.

UAB isn't hiring McGee to be the offensive coordinator so I'm not sure why it matters that he didn't call plays, or whatever.

McGee is a head coach, a great manager. He's a good recruiter and he evaluates offensive personnel better than almost anyone. He knows how those folks tick.

It's not a flashy hire but it's a smart hire. McGee > Callaway and everyone knows it.

statement from BP

The following statement is from University of Arkansas football head coach Bobby Petrino:

"I want to congratulate Garrick McGee on becoming the head football coach at UAB. I have enjoyed watching Garrick progress throughout his career and I am excited to see him get this opportunity. Garrick has been with me as a player and an assistant coach and I thank him for being a big part of everything we have been able to build here at Arkansas. The guidance he has provided our offense and quarterbacks the past four seasons has been immeasurable. Garrick grew up the son of a coach and is a natural teacher and leader. He will have a solid plan for the football program at UAB and the dedication to carry it out. Garrick, Tiffany and the entire McGee family leave with my gratitude for a job well done with the Razorbacks, and best wishes for continued success at UAB."

Now the million dollar question is does anyone else on our staff go with him?

I wouldn't be suprised to see Richard Owens get a spot on his staff.

I bet he could use a defensive coordinator/secondary coach.

This.Congrats to McGee but you can bet that high powered Arky offense is all Petrino's. They want miss a beat. Like Wiki says Petrino grew up , up here in Montana where I now live and these wide open spaces gave him that high powered offense.

Birmingham does suck, its the towns and communities just outside of bham that are great.
