Who do you think is a 1st rounder either this year or in a couple of years???
Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Miss St, and South Carolina have Qbs that could be potential first rounders.

His arm strength. He does not have the arm strength to throw the deep out on a line. Lot of air under his ball.

Only 3 sub 6'4" QBs have been drafted in the first round in the past decade.

I think he has a good chance to be the best QB in the SEC next year, but I highly doubt he sniffs the first round. That being said, I could see him playing for a long time in the league. He's good. I see a lot of Russel Wilson with him.

What is his "system" and who has he ever coached that went first round?

Tennessee, Kentucky, Vandy, State and A&M have noone.

Why not leave Tennessee out? You obviously know nothing about Jarret Guarantano, so why show your lack of knowledge by pretending to be knowledgable?

If you do not think hurts improves as a passer, you are an idiot. Look at Lamar Jackson and deshaun Watson true freshman seasons compared to Hurts.

What do they have to do with Hurts?

QBs improve over a three year period mainly due to decision making. The QBs that have mechanical and accuracy issues, usually stay the same. Hurts problems have nothing to do with decision making.

At this point, no one knows anything about him.

Let me guess - he's been tearing it up in practice, right?

He may well end up being a first rounder, but how could you argue for his inclusion here before he even takes a snap

He tore it up against the vols D this fall which obviously was the greatest D ever so ifto facto, he's the boss.

Are we talking about the same guy? Hurts struggled mightily with decision making, whether to keep it or get rid of the ball, whether to pass it to wr downfield or check down.

No, he rarely threw it to the wrong receiver . His problem was getting the ball to the open receiver . Kiffin helped him with easy passes, but you can only cover up so much.

Yes he did. Just in the ncg he opted to pass it to a double covered Ridley over a wide open Stewart. He did that several times, as he would rarely go through his progressions and stick with the first read.

One of Hurt's biggest problems was him not scanning the field. If he didn't see someone open immediately he would take off and run, throw it away, or try to force a pass.

Eason fits that prototypical role

As a MSU fan, you should know how wrong they would be to go strictly by that by now after watching Dak. Dak had no typical NFL QB qualities and we see how they all missed on him and how the top two QB's looked that were traditional types.

Fitzgerald and Hurts would clearly have to massively improve their passing, which I doubt will happen (to that extent).

Uh, did you know Fitz was not a QB until his SR year in hs? He was a receiver etc and only became a QB out of necessity for his hs team. That's why he didn't get offers to power 5 conf teams.

To say he won't get better under Dan Mullen is stupid. The man does wonders with QB's. Now, if we don't have the receivers that's one thing, or the OL to protect him. But he will be a smarter and better passer after one year in college after coming off one year of being a QB in hs.

Dan Mullen can find the diamonds out there that get overlooked and he was pretty high about the ceiling Fitz had coming in.

Wrong - his biggest issue was being a true freshman and not throwing receivers open or quickly progressing through his route tree.

His accuracy was average, but not the biggest problem.

He lost his arm strength too as the year went on as evidenced by his last hail mary. Throwing the ball too hard early in the season led to dead arm syndrom in november and december

For all the talk about Eason (and deservedly so) I don't know why anybody would discount Nick Fitzgerald. The kid is 6'5" 225-230 lbs and he runs like the wind. He'll be a very good passer with some coaching and time. I'd love to see that kid wearing Orange & Blue, I can tell you that. He's a gamer. I could easily see him being a 1st or 2nd rounder in a couple years.
