Define moderate.

The best back to back seasons since the Nebraska 90's prob doesnt qualify as moderate.

Did Bama switch to Indiana Golden helmets in 1966?

I seriously didn't realize everyone didn't know that Bama had already 3-peated.

Bama was the defending NC's, started the season at #1, never lost a game, blanked 6 opponents, and crushed Nebraska in the Sugar Bowl.

It was the first time a team ever accomplished the feat of winning 3 NC's in a row. Quite impressive.

Little Ara played for a tie against Michigan State. He and ND were a national disgrace that season and lucky to have even been #2.

Both ND and Michigan State refused to play in a bowl game.

Losers

Congrats on that 3rd place finish while skipping out against an elite UGA squad.

You made a mistake. It was a 1st place finish for a well deserved 3-Peat.

See here:

1st Ever 3 Time National Champions

And Georgia was hardly elite that season. They lost to a team that everyone traditionally scheduled for their homecoming games in Miami. That was pitiful.

I had forgotten how lilly white Notre Dame was back then. Without all the Crattis and Hanrattys and other names that ended in vowels, I would have sworn they were in the SEC.

Well, they were the right types of whites. You know, they were Catholic and the whites on Bama's team were Baptists.

It was a religious war on the gridiron that season.

It was colder than shite. My brother and I drove to Indianapolis, the Dawgs beat Alabama that year. Kelee Ringo interception was incredible, it was an awesome feeling. Had a great time with my brother watching us win that one. First time I’ve been alive for a National Championship for Georgia. My Nephews first year at UGA too. Last Year, we couldn’t make the trip out to California, but we went to Mercedes Benz on New Years while you sat there in your couch at midnight as Dawgs advanced to the national championship again….
