When they say "tapes" exist, I'm wondering if what they really mean are voice mail messages, as opposed to setting up a meeting with a hidden tape recorder, a la the movies. That seems more in line with what the interviewer is claiming because he also says there were text messages too.

I seem to recall during the initial firestorm of this news story breaking that either Bell or Bond claimed that they had texts and voice messages that proved Cam was being shopped.

When asked for proof, the story became that the cell phone used was gone because it was accidentally dropped in a glass of water or something and all of the evidence was destroyed.

People were naturally suspicious of that claim and figured that either (a) no such proof ever existed or (b) that there was information recorded that might have implicated (or at least negatively portrayed) the wrong people - ie, Miss St or some of its boosters.

If this cell phone that was allegedly water damaged and thrown away has suddenly re-emerged, then it's going to raise additional questions, especially if the NCAA is being sandbagged by some of the information.

Bell, in particular, doesn't seem very eager at all to be involved in this. Not saying he's dirty in any way, just that he's already an established businessman so what does he possibly have to gain by becoming the Linda Tripp of SEC football?
