re: Apparently Oxford is boring

I wouldn’t send my kid to OM, but saying there isn’t anything to do, is absurd.

Of course, I’m a sports fan, so there isn’t a school in the SEC where I would be bored. Football, basketball, baseball, softball, etc. Find an intramural sports team.

Ok, so you aren’t into sports. Find an academic club. Volunteer. Find a church home. Or, get a job a one of those overpriced boutiques or cafe’s in the square.

Do something!

Go to Memphis or Nashville on the weekend and take in some music. Go visit Rowan Oak (as mentioned), Vicksburg, drive the Natchez Trace Parkway.

Granted, I bag on OM all the time for being a school for people that are looking for an extra four years of high school and not really a serious education.

But saying there’s nothing to do? She just described every school in the SEC, B1G, XII, and most in the ACC sans a few urban schools.

Perhaps she should check out Lubbock, Stillwater, or Blacksburg.

Well please someone tell her absolutely not to go to Tuscaloosa because it's a gump *hithole.
