It will be a long night for the secondary if LSU cannot generate pressure up front.

What defense can LSU run that you don't think bama will eat alive?
This will be a little long but there is no short easy answer.
1 - Play your CB's in bump and run with inside out leverage. This will block slant routes form the outside WR's and disrupt timing. It does open up over the top routes but the LSU CB's are good enough to take that chance.
2 - slant your 3 inside DL players toward the TE with an occasional slant the other way to prevent predictability. This will take advantage of the biggest weakness of the Alabama OL (guards) and make it more difficult for OL to get to the second level (LB's). Doing this disrupts the Alabama inside RPO and inside zone read.
3 - Back the LB's off an extra yard from normal line-up and play softer than normal. This will make it harder for a short QB (Tua) to hit quick TE throws over the middle in RPO
4 - when you slant the line bring a 1 man blitz but change which man and from where continuously so the QB and RB's have to think more when it comes to picking up the blitz. This will also upset timing for the RPO's.
5 - OLB must keep contain on the edges and slow off tackle runs (outside zone) or the 3 headed RB's will have big games.
Where this causes issues for the D is TE routes to the outside and RB quick flare routes. The corners will have their backs turn and be late in support. That will leave three big issues for the D. 1) slot vs safety of star - can your safeties/star cover Judy or Waddle? 2) QB escape to the edge nad/or hit the slot/TE on the run in a scramble. And the 3rd - RB slipping out late with LB late to chase him down.
Playing this style will slow the game down and reduce the number of possessions for Tua but it will also make the D tire for late in the game. Alabama will likely rack up lots of yards but have to be extremely good in the red zone - not our best area of play on O so far this year. It would also place a premium on turnovers as the game would likely be kept in the high 20's to low 30's for Alabama.
That is how I would call the game as the DC for LSU.

The question is really which defense will score the most. Both QBs have protected the ball well, but I really expect both to have INTs this game. Which one will have the most??
I dont see Burrow taking chances, not that Bama has an elite secondary, but he's been pretty good taking care of the ball. He'll take off running before he makes a risky pass.
I can see Tua having 1. He got away with 1 vs Tenn.
I expect Bama to come out run heavy with no Devin White in the game. Force a safety in the box then attack with the WR's

Have you been in our defensive teams room this week ? ??

let's not forget about the three headed monster run game. As well.

Yeah but how many 95 mph passes?????
Was that the 1997 game? Boy that was awful. I vividly remember that one for some reason. Somehow it stayed close for a while because LSU kept fumbling or something and we'd be backed up in our own end. I remember because our seats were down low (I was around 11 or 12) and it felt like the whole half was played 20 feet from us.
Kevin Faulk went nuts.

I left out 1 other thing. If the guard pulls, the DL slanting should follow him to the ball.

It’s a nice plan. Good luck. I hope it’s a great game.

It really hinges on how much pressure the front 7 can get on Tua,
This is our Achilles heel though...we dont pressure the QBs well without blitzing.
