But here we go! Where in these three images does it show where the QB is down?

Another non-Texas poster starting a thread about this...
Is the ankle touching the ground? Looks like it to me. But who fricking cares, the game was 4 days ago.

Lol I'm just laughing at the fact that this guy had to spend time making this graphic with our logo upside down while dickriding Alabama in the process.
He sure showed us!!!

-Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction
-Always keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot
-Always keep your firearms unloaded when not in use (a firearm stored in a secured
location for immediate use is considered in use).
-Always make sure you get the QB down on the ground, especially in the end zone,
or people who hate the QB’s team will whine and whine for weeks and years like
broke-back little bitches.
This concludes your Safety Brief.

you mean any part of the leg above the ankle?
No, it's not

Do you understand that when the roughing the passer penalty was called, there was no way the safety was going to stand? Terrible call, I agree, but not reviewable. Therefore, your argument still results in no points for Texas and Bama has the ball at the 15 and half yard line, by the current rules of the game. The reason the ref waved the roughing penalty(debatable that he has the power to do it) was because he saw the replay and realized how bad they had blown the call. He ruled Young wasn't down because it was all he could do to right the wrong the other official had unleashed.

According to the TV announcer, (and possibly the ref himself when he announced the call) he was mistakenly told “roughing” by the official that threw the flag.
For whatever that’s worth.

Man, there has been so much attention on this I feel like there's gonna be a 30 for 30 on this one play that wasn't. Man, time to move on. Just for fun though, what could we call this play if it was a 30 for 30?

Right. Somebody on the headset from the replay room looking at all angles, told the ref to do something extraordinary. Wave a roughing penalty. The only way he could justify it was to say he wasn't down. Since he wasn't down, it wasn't a late hit. Saying he "misspoke" was cover for his ruling. He bent the rules trying to make it up to Texas.

So you concede the ankle is touching the ground? Great! Glad we agree he is down, because the ankle counts.

The amazing thing is the final result of the crazy play is exactly what should have happened.
The penalties they called on Texas were horrifically wrong. I think they only threw them because Young's helmet was askew when he got up and the refs just assumed he got hit in the head or something. They overprotect the QB's that hard. It appeared Texas was screwed but they reversed the penalty even though they probably weren't supposed to, but it's good they did because it absolutely was not a penalty.
Watching it live I thought for sure it was a saftey. I thought Young was down and then I thought even if he wasn't down he still intentionally grounded the ball.
But watching the replay shows it was a miraculous avoidance of a safety on both counts. He got lucky that during the tackle his body stayed on top of the defender the whole time and then he got lucky that his grounding attempt hit a Texas defender directly in the head.

I was hoping he was down. If down, roughing is not reversible or reviewable. Only the targeting.
