Why don't Bama claim 1966 ? The only undefeated, untied team in the country ?
Was it politics, media bias against teams from the south ?

AP and UPI polls were dominated by northern media at that time, and no way was a deep south program going to win an unprecedented 3 in a row in the turbulent 1960s. So yeah. Politics.

edit: well, I mean, 1966 Alabama is on that list that Auburn fans are talking about right now, but AP and UPI were the recognized polls, not some off the wall publications like the one that chose Alabama in 1941, or so many other teams, like Auburn and Georgia on that goofy list, when other teams were chosen by AP and UPI. .

Time to hang a 2001 And 2005 SEC West Co-champs banner like Ole Miss while you’re at it.

The NCAA has awarded Auburn to claim 3 more Championships:

The NCAA does not award championships. They can recognize championships that awarded by selectors, but they do not award championships.

Incorrect

They do not award them but they do recognize them. In fact, if any kind of credible selector awards a championship the NCAA typically recognizes it.

I think they recognize something like 8 or 9 for Georgia.

Georgia only recognizes and claims 4, though.

Auburn claims and recognizes 2.

Correct. NCAA recognized 8 titles for LSU. We only claim 4. The only other I think we should claim is 1908

Quick, post rare unclaimed Auburn national championships.

1910 - Auburn - NATIONAL CHAMPIONS - Billingsley Report - NCAA-designated major selector

Appears in the 1996-1999 NCAA records book.

The original Billingsley Report formula, before he was forced to change it to accommodate the BCS.
